NICHOLS - The pilot is Bill Hale, a Bullitt County resident who suddenly passed away in October 2010.
The plane is a 1976 model Antonov An-2, the world’s largest of its kind, according to Hale’s son-in-law, Mike Russell. It will travel to Crestview, Fla., purchased by Vertol Systems Company (VSC) in nearby Destin.
Hale, a Bullitt County resident for 20 years, last flew the plane 14 years ago. It has been resting in a field on Hale’s property since the last flight.
