FRANKFORT -- Two state lawmakers with an extensive background in education are the recipients of the 2011 KIDS First Advocacy Award from the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA).
MOUNT WASHINGT ON -- Inspired to help children suffering from long-term medical hair loss, Bullitt East student Casie Harlow, 16, decided to put her flowing locks to good use when she recently visited a local hair salon.
Jose Rosario was presented a Congressional Letter of Commendation from U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie for his work researching and bringing to light the work done by Henry Mattingly, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for serving in the Civil War.
Steve Miller made the presentation and Rosario was joined by LJ mayor Butch Sweat and many of the volunteers who make the Bullitt County History Museum special.
SHEPHERDSVILLE - With the exception of battling through a cold, Monica Meredith Robinson said settling into the county attorney’s office has been a fairly routine experience.
Of course, unless you consider the need to replace a computer system that was a bit antiquated.
“It’s gone very well,” said Robinson, who took office on Jan. 3. “It’s been a lot of work getting everything in place but it has gone very well.”
