HEBRON ESTATES - Before Lt. Col. Stacy Bathrick joined the Army, she was an aspiring cadet in the North Bullitt High School JROTC program.
HEBRON ESTATES - Freedom Elementary School Teacher Michelle Rynbrandt Hendricks has been selected to the initial cohort of Kentucky Fellows by Hope Street Group, a national nonprofit organization known for its teacher engagement work.
Once again this year, high school seniors were eligible to receive scholarships from the Bullitt County Farm Bureau.

SHEPHERDSVILLE – A dozen hours before taking the stage for the 2013 Miss Bullitt County Fair pageant, Elexia Claudelle Campbell felt anything but like a model.
HILLVIEW - Littering is a problem thatís all too common and 18-year-old North Bullitt High School graduate James Bacher saw a need to fix it.
“Every time I walked through my neighborhood or rode through the city, I would see trash on the ground,” he said.
Some people would make an effort to pick up trash, but Bacher said they would have to carry it home to dispose of it.
Bacher used what he saw as inspiration for his Eagle Scout project, creating and installing 27 trash cans throughout Hillview and Pioneer Village.
Before Shepherdsville City Park was the city park, it was home to the Watkins family.
James Watkins said from 1965-1998 his parents, Glenda and Lawrence Watkins, owned the land.
“We all just call that place home,” he said.
However, after a flood in 1997, the land was purchased by the city during a Federal Emergency Management Agency buyout to prevent future flooding and to create a city park, Watkins said.
In 1982, the family built a gazebo on the land and today it is still there, but is now known as the pavilion.
Ashlie Gauthier describes herself as a girly-girl who loves to dress up and be onstage.
“I love to make the audience smile,” Gauthier said.
The 13-year-old Mount Washington Middle School student recently used her love of dressing up and being onstage at a Sunburst Beauty Pageant in Nashville, Tenn.
Being that this was one of Gauthier’s first pageants she was nervous, but excited.
“I’d been looking forward to it for a long time,” she said.
Memorial Day weekend was supposed to be just another weekend for Brooks residents Desirae Charlet and her mom, Cindy P’Pool.
However, when the two went out to yard sales on Saturday, May 25, they experienced a mishap they never had before.
Before going out, Charlet and P’Pool stopped at First Federal in Shepherdsville to get money from the ATM, Charlet said.
The Bullitt County Public School System and the Bullitt County Retired Teachers Association recently honored retiring employees.
