MOUNT WASHINGTON— A Mount Washington Boy Scout designed a monument to honor Vietnam Veterans at the Louisville Veteran Affairs Medical Center.
Serving as part of his application to become an Eagle Scout, Tyler Prell first came up with the idea after visiting the Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C. five years ago.
“We spoke to a lot of veterans who told us how they were spat on and called ‘baby killers’,” he said.
SHEPHERDSVILLE - The Shepherdsville Police Department’s newest member is by far their youngest.
At nine years old, Hayden Heck is also the department’s favorite officer.
Heck was sworn in as a special deputy for a day, and given his own uniform, all as a result of his random act of kindness toward the department.
The Pioneer News ran a story in July about communities showing support for local police officers following fatal police shootings throughout the country.
HILLVIEW -- The Eagle Scout candidate was searching for a project that might help the community.
When Gavin Embry spoke with Hillview Mayor Jim Eadens, recreation director Terry Bohannon and public works director Jim Bohannon, it was suggested that he look at the pavilion, which sits outside the community center on Prairie Drive.
The structure had been vandalized and was in need of repairs.
