 PIONEER VILLAGE - An educator filling the void in Maryville Elementary principal's office will continue to do so officially.

Ruth Esterle was selected as the school's new principal, replacing long-time leader Sam Cowan.

This is Esterle's first stint as a principal, bringing over 25 years of educational experience to the position.

Esterle was selected by Bullitt County Public Schools as Maryville's interim principal while serving as counselor at Mount Washington Elementary.

  SHEPHERDSVILLE - Shearman Taylor has led a blessed life. But one of his biggest blessings may have come at the ripe young age of 86.

 MOUNT WASHINGTON - Last year an estimated 1.5 million students across the U.S. took the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test with hopes of becoming National Merit Scholars. 

When Bullitt East High School senior Kelly Farner found out she was named a semifinalist in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program after earning one of the highest scores in the state she was overwhelmed.

 Bob Stinson of Hillview has been a previous participant in contests in the Kentucky State Fair.

He won ribbons in the past. Thanks to his wife’s purchase of a lathe upon his retirement in 2005, the woodturner had equipment to use in his hobby.

This year, Stinson captured his first blue ribbons at the Kentucky State Fair. He won blue for his free standing wooden decoration vase.

He also won a second-place red ribbon for his bracelet and pendant made of wood.
