HILLVIEW -- Dana Brown has been named Overdale Elementary School Principal following the departure of Adrienne Usher as the district Director of Elementary Education.
“I am honored that the Overdale Elementary School community has chosen me to be their new principal,” Brown said. “I am also very excited about the journey we will take together to further the wonderful things already taking place there.”
BROOKS - It was late on the eve of their first anniversary, and Brooks resident Karen Dickerson-Burt was last-minute shopping.
Her husband, David Sr., bought a Mystery Machine van for the anniversary. He mentioned wanting a Scooby Doo stuffed animal and a balloon to go with it.
So Burt headed to the Meijer store on Preston Highway just north of Hillview to see what items they might have.
The fateful trip would turn fruitful for Burt thanks to the kindness of a Meijer employee.

MOUNT WASHINGTON -- Fay Anderson has always lived a life of inclusion.
A South Carolinian Duke-lover, Anderson grew up in a community where inclusion was the social norm. The eldest daughter of a military man, Anderson and her family lived in a community with other military families. Her childhood was controlled, yet comfortable, she said.
With the dream to coach girls basketball, Anderson went on to Newberry College and the University of South Carolina to obtain a business degree and masters in Business Education.
