SHEPHERDSVILLE - Two local authors have received a great deal of success, and that’s not fiction.
Amy McCorkle, with her co-author Melissa Goodman, have achieved success this year in the form of multiple awards from various independent organizations.
The duo received nominations for two separate awards at the 2014 FandomFest event at the Galt House in Louisville Aug.1-3. The nominations are both for screenplays, featuring the works, “Bella Morte” and “City of the Damned.”
Brenda Pirtle has been named District Director of Secondary Education. She succeeds Robb Smith who takes over as Bellevue Independent School’s Superintendent July 1.
This is Pirtle’s fifth leadership role in Bullitt County Public Schools. She was both assistant and principal at Brooks Elementary School, a district monitoring administrator, and principal of the Bullitt Alternative Center and the Riverview Opportunity Center.
Dr. Cindy Meyers Gnadinger has been selected as the vice president for academic affairs at St. Catharine College in Springfield.
She is the daughter of Dale and Leona Meyers of Shepherdsville. Cindy graduated from St. Aloysius Catholic School and in 1984 from Bullitt Central High School.
She came to the Washington County college after serving as vice president for academic affairs at William Peace University in Raleigh, N.C., and as an assistant vice president for academic affairs at Bellarmine University.
HILLVIEW - Pam Robertson fell in love with Overdale Elementary, and the Bullitt County Public School system, six years ago when she was selected Overdale’s principal.
After a successful run, including implementation of new programs and helping Overdale move into its current facility, Robertson will retire at the end of the 2013-14 semester.
Robertson cited family as her number one reason, with grandchildren, aging parents and an ailing sister that need more of her time. She also hopes to volunteer more with church missions and Bible studies.
