When Megan Weihe submitted her audition tape for the Kentucky Children’s Chorus, she was prepared either way.
“I really wanted to be selected but this was also the first year I was eligible,” said the Crossroads Elementary School fifth grader.
Persons who pick kids based on their audio efforts were impressed by Megan’s combination of classical/choral style for the audition CD. All students were asked to sing an arrangement of America the Beautiful composed by the Kentucky Children’s Choir director, Ruth Dwyer.
MOUNT WASHINGTON - As a young tike, Bullitt East sophomore Nick Chapman enjoyed exploring Mount Washington Elementary School’s arboretum, so it was rather fitting when he got to give back by doing his Eagle Scout project there last spring.
It had become overgrown, so the 16-year-old took a crew of about 11 people and they cut limbs, ripped out old plants and flowers and added new mulch. In addition, they added a bench.
“It’s important to show that you care about things,” the member of Troop 100 said.
