    CEDAR GROVE - Bullitt County is the newest area to taste the snappy difference.

    Snappy Tomato Pizza is open for business at the Cedar Grove Center.

    Bret Witte, director of operations in the West-Central Kentucky territory, said the area offered unique opportunities to offer dine-in buffets and delivery orders.

    The location will deliver to a 10-12 minute driving area.

    The lunch and dinner buffet features all specialty pizzas along with pasta for $6.29. Buffets are available at lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

  • Business leads drive for Mount Washington Middle school supplies

    MOUNT WASHINGTON — Going back to school is an exciting time for many Bullitt County students. But for struggling families trying to make ends meet, sending children back to school can mean a tough financial burden with the rising cost of supplies and fees.

    Some local realtors with Century 21 Advantage Plus’ Mount Washington office recognize there are many local families financially unable to supply their children with the essentials to start the school year off right, so they banded together to help meet that need.

  • 4-H Horse Club earns local, state recognition

    The Bullitt County 4-H Horse Club, the Blazin’ Saddles, recently competed at the district and state levels in Frankfort and Louisville.

    Each rider had to qualify at the district level to move to state competition.

    Each of these riders excelled in competition:

    *Rebekah McAuliffe  on Twister -- DISTRICT: sixth place in showmanship; red ribbons in pole bending, barrel racing and stake race; STATE: red ribbonsin pole bending, barrel racing and stake race

  • Welcome to Kindergarten

    The Bullitt County School System hosted its Kindergarten Kickoff for youngsters on Thursday at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre.

    The event allows incoming Kindergarten students to visit their new teachers, counselors and principals prior to the first day of school.

    Students received free backpacks, school supplies and other fun stuff, along with important information for themselves and their parents.

    The Class of 2022 begins Kindergarten Tuesday, Aug. 12.

  • Boy Scouts help to improve pool

    MOUNT WASHINGTON — Jacob Carter and Jacob Franklin knew there was work to be done at the Mount Washington pool long before the city made needed repairs earlier this summer.

    Franklin and Carter, both of Mount Washington and Boy Scout Troop 333, enjoyed going to the pool as young boys. Although they couldn’t make some of the most expensive repairs, they recognized a need for additional picnic tables and the restrooms to be renovated.

  • Geek Squad helps bring prescription plan to reality

    HILLVIEW – For months Hillview Mayor Jim Eadens expressed his approval of the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (KTAP), which assists local residents with acquiring necessary medication.

    The program, originally presented by Gov. Steve Beshear’s office, allows trained volunteers to assist communities and uninsured families with prescriptions and medication information.

    Two Hillview city employees immediately volunteered to accept KTAP training. Now the city is receiving further assistance from a local business.

  • School energy teams honored for savings on utility expenses

    Student energy teams at seven Bullitt County Public Schools were recognized May 18 for promoting awareness and reducing energy consumption.

    Overall since the district started implementing energy conservation efforts over two years ago, there has been a cost avoidance exceeding $250,000 in annual energy costs.

    Bullitt East High School student earned the Overall Gold Award for their year end report and additional activities related to energy conservation.

    District Energy Manager Andrea Rock lauded the efforts of Bullitt East students.

  • Scouts, Woman's Club help to landscape jail

    Local Boy Scouts teamed up with the Bullitt County Woman’s Club to do some landscaping at the Bullitt County Detention Center on Saturday, June 6.

    Scouts from Shepherdsville Boy Scout Troop 868 and Cub Scout Pack 868 turned out early Saturday morning to construct four flower beds at the front of the jail.

    A landscaping plan had been prepared by the Bullitt County Woman’s Club in consultation with the local Master Gardener Association and the Bullitt County Extension Office.

  • Stephen Guelda earns rank of Eagle Scout

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - Boy Scout Troop 868 proudly announces that Stephen Guelda of Shepherdsville has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

    Stephen is the 11th scout to earn the Eagle rank in Troop 868 during the unit’s 10-year history.

    Stephen, who lives in Fox Chase, is a recent graduate of St. Xavier High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society.

    Stephen is a member of St. Aloysius Parish in Shepherdsville and an active participant in the youth group at Mother Seton Catholic Church in Okolona.
