  • The 5th annual FRED (Fathers Reading Every Day) program takes place throughout the month of June in Bullitt County.

    The program was first presented by Bullitt County Adult and Community Education to offer numerous opportunities for fathers to read and have fun with children.

  • SHEPHERDSVILLE - In Scripture the story is told about Jesus and a walk to a crucifixion bearing a cross.

    For members of a local Christian musical group, they’ve experienced their own walks and own crosses to bear.

    Crosswalk, a Christian Rock band of local residents, now sees its biggest moments ahead, securing a spot in the Ichthus Festival, one of the longest-running and largest Christian music events in the country.

  • Bullitt County has been chosen to receive $30,219.00 to supplement Emergency Food and Shelter programs in the county. These funds have been made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

  • Bernheim Celebrates National Pollinator Week

    Bernheim will close out the celebration of National Pollinators week with a Butterfly hike from 11:00am – noon on Saturday June 27th. (Please register in advance by calling (502) 955-8512.)

    By proclamation, Governor Steven L. Beshear recognizes June 22-28, 2009 as Pollinator Week in the state of Kentucky.

  • The Bullitt Amateur Radio Society (B.A.R.S.) will be participating in our 31st consecutive Radio Field Day Saturday, June 27, through Sunday, June 28.

    On the air start time will begin approximately 2 p.m. Saturday and end 2 p.m. Sunday. Setup begins 9 a.m. Saturday.

    The Field Day will be located at Becknell Hall, 4700 Summitt Dr., in Pioneer Village, located off Preston Highway about one mile south of the Jefferson County line. (Directions and club info at www.ky4ky.com)

  • In trying economic times the Bullitt County Fair serves as affordable family entertainment close to home.

    The Fair Board hopes to include as many fun things to experience as possible during this year's event, scheduled June 15-20.

    Fair Board president Jimmy Anderson said some changes were made following last year's attendance drop. He added that the Fairgrounds' centralized location, free parking and special events for a $10 admission was a good deal.

    "Hopefully everybody will come out," said Anderson. "It's a good price for what you get."

  • MOUNT WASHINGTON " Mallori Puchino knows there is a big world outside the city limits of Mount Washington, and she intends to educate herself about it every opportunity she gets.

    This Bullitt East High School senior has committed herself to being globally minded and recently earned the opportunity to expand her knowledge of international affairs this summer in Washington, D.C. and New York City, NY.

  • SHEPHERDSVILLE - Bullitt Lick Middle School played host to the 11th annual Community Baby Shower sponsored by Bullitt County Family Resource Centers and the Bullitt County Health Department.

    There were 50 patrons including expecting mothers and new parents with children up to six months of age.

    The Baby Shower offered an opportunity for new and expecting parents to collect information from various resources and organizations available in the community.

  • SHEPHERDSVILLE - The kids at Cornerstone Child Care were on a roll during the third annual Trike-A-Thon for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

    Co-owners Deanna Sanders and Lynn Montgomery allowed all Cornerstone kids to bring their own tricycles and bicycles to the event. This year 14 children raised $400 through sponsorships.

    This year’s Trike-A-Thon meant a little bit more to Cornerstone because of five-year-old member Olivia Johnson, who was born with spina bifida.

  •     SHEPHERDSVILLE - The outskirts of Bullitt County will soon be better technologically connected thanks to Inside Connect Cable, LLC.

        The cable service provider purchased the Time Warner/Windjammer plant located in the Brooks area, allowing the company to expand toward northwestern areas of the county.
