  • Consultant says mapping plan deals with future use of land

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - The final component to be released to the public brought the most discussion by the public on the proposed comprehensive land-use plan.

    Consultant Kriss Lowry displayed the draft land-use maps for Mount Washington and Shepherdsville. And the capacity crowd had plenty of comments.

    Lowry said that she was not employed to make a zoning map for the county. She said there are responsibilities of the county and the various cities to keep their own zoning maps.

  • LJ Old Fashion committee hopes issue resolved with city

     LEBANON JUNCTION -  A difference in opinion and facts in the town of Lebanon Junction has caused some disagreement.

    In the Nov. 4 city council meeting, Mayor Butch Sweat voice some concerned about the amount $750, which was deposited in the Old Fashioned Days Committee account.

    “I don’t know why the money was depositing in that account,” he said.

    Sweat said the money should belong to the city because he said it took over the lease on the community center in May because he said the OFD committee was broke.

  • Boar's Nest opens great place for food, fun

     It had always been a dream of James Jewell, to own a western-themed restaurant. And on Friday, that became true.

    The Boar’s Nest, named after the bar in “The Dukes of Hazzard,” had its official ribbon cutting with the Bullitt County Chamber of Commerce Friday.

    It has been open for about a week now.

    Jewell said it was great to finally be open for business which he started building four and half years ago.

    “I want it to be a good place to come and wat and listen to country music,” he said.

  • County would ban smoking in government facilities

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - Dorothy Biddle was appearing at Bullitt Fiscal Court as part of her nursing program requirements for a course at Bellarmine University.

    Little did she know that by the time she left the courthouse, there would be some changescoming to the way Bullitt County government officials deal with smoking.

    And most in the public learned that there are no state or local regulations that prohibit smoking in county government buildings.

    Biddle said her task was to find a local health issue and then attend a meeting to give her perspective.
