     The following results were from the regional Middle School Governor’s Cup academic competition for Region 11:

     Those of you who have been reading my columns or otherwise getting information on what our schools and district has been doing over the past few years know that it is our objective to become a leader in the state in providing a rigorous and effective education to our students.  

  • Eastside wins District 41 Governor’s Cup

     The following results were from the Middle School Governor’s Cup academic competition for District 41:

  • School board to change meeting night, add new work sessions

          SHEPHERDSVILLE – For the first time in many years, visitors who wish to attend the monthly Bullitt County Public School Board meetings will have to change their calendars.

         And, the public will have a second chance each month to see what their educational leaders are doing.

         The school board recently opted to change from the traditional third Tuesday of each month to the fourth Monday, starting with the Feb. 25 meeting.

  • Board hears wide array of learning strategies

          SHEPHERDSVILLE - With a wide variety of learning strategies in place, the question is whether they are doing the job in providing better student learning in Bullitt County.

         That's a good question.

         Members of the Bullitt County Public School Board spent a couple of hours recently listening to some of the things underway in the district and why administrators feel that the vision is focused in the right place.

  • 100 days smarter...

     On the 100th day of class at Crossroads Elementary, students got to share a little time with a very special guest. 

    Ruth Ball, who is 100 years young, came to school to meet with the students. 

    She is a relative of Luke Cox, a student at Crossroads. 

    Students throughout the school made hats which declared that they were 100 days smarter.

  • Grandpartents at BMS

     CLERMONT - Bernheim Middle School students celebrated a special breakfast with their grandparents.

    About 100 visitors joined students in the Bernheim Cafe.

    Momento photographs were taken, and grandparents joined students to visit the school's book fair.

    Principal Bobby Hart credited grandparents and all Bernheim families for their school participation throughout the semester.

    "Our community involvement is at an all-time high," Hart said.

  • Brooks gets fitness lesson during night workshops

     BROOKS - Brooks Elementary hosted a Family Fitness Night in conjunction with grant funding from the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative (OVEC) Project BALANCE.

    Sarah Adkins, a Brooks teacher and OVEC Project Balance Healthy Lifestyle coach, said the grant was offered to improve and increase students' daily physical activity, cardiovascular fitness levels and healthy eating habits.
