• Zoneton band has great year

     Our band at Zoneton Middle School has experienced yet another great year.

    In the summer of 2012 ten band students from our school were selected to go to the Summer Middle School Wind Band Institute at the University of Louisville.

    In late September, ZMS Advanced Band put on a show at Paroquet Springs, which drew quite a crowd. This performance by our band had two pop selections along with a contemporary piece.

  • Bullitt East students earn top honors in state event

     MOUNT WASHINGTON - Having advanced through preliminary judging, the team of three Bullitt East Students known as the Mount Washington Youth Chamber of Preservationists (aka the “Youth COPs”) joined with over 5,000 students of all ages from over 400 schools representing 100 Kentucky districts at the Lexington Convention Center for the annual state finals of the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) competition.

     Over a dozen school officials visited Bullitt County Public Schools March 28th for a look at Apex Learning.

  • Students at Work

     Students at Mount Washington Elementary spent the past several months working on a play.

    Casting for the play written and directed by playwright L. Henry Dowell started back in December.

    After working and rehearsing the play for two months, it was ready to present to the student body and the public in March.

    Library Media Specialist Karyn Hutchins said it was the fifth year the Mount Washington Elementary students had performed works by Dowell and it has become an annual event.

  • Caranna brings something special to Bullitt Lick

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - On a cold winter day in Bullitt County, one might dream of heading to a place like Long Beach, Calif.

    Bobbi Caranna grew up in Long Beach, dreaming of what she does now in Bullitt County, teaching impressionable minds.

    A long road from the beach, circa Mississippi, brought Caranna to Bullitt Lick Middle School. Fulfilling her life’s dream earned her the 2013 Bullitt County Middle School Teacher of the Year Award.

  • Preschool registration set for April 24

     The Bullitt County Public School System will hold pre-registration for its preschool program on April 24.

    All four-year-old children whose family income is no more than 150 percent of poverty (free or reduced lunch) or, for three-year-olds and four-year-old children with developmental or speech delays, regardless of income, are eligible.

    The age cutoff is Oct. 1, 2013.

    At the time of registration, each child will be screened in the following areas: cognitive, motor, language, social/emotional, self-help/adaptive.
