  • Budget gets OK to be sent to state after controversy over DLG opinion

        SHEPHERDSVILLE – Does Bullitt Fiscal Court have to take any official action on the proposed budget before it can be sent to state officials for approval to its form and content?

        Apparently, it depends on who you ask.

        By Kentucky statute the Judge/Executive’s office is required to send three copies of the proposed county budget to Frankfort for consideration by the Department for Local Government after the first reading of the budget ordinance.

        LEBANON JUNCTION - A large concrete hole with standing water is a nuisance.

        It can also be a deadly attraction for youngsters.

        With that in mind, chairman Steve Larimore said one of the first officials acts of the newly-revised Bullitt County Parks and Recreation Board was to recommend that fiscal court fill in the existing swimming pool behind Lebanon Junction Elementary.

        This will make the second summer the pool has not been open to the public.

  • Mother, sons face theft charges in case of missing scrap metal in MW

        MOUNT WASHINGTON - A mother and her two sons face charges following a scrap metal theft in Mount Washington.

        Tina Shumate, Christopher Head, 19, and Mark Head, 21, were recently taken into custody by the Mount Washington Police Department on felony charges of theft by unlawful taking after allegedly stealing over  $10,000 worth of scrap metal from Allen Stout of 138 Stout Lane.

        A witness said she saw the three on Stout’s property loading scrap metal onto a pickup truck, according to Stump.

  • BULLITT COUNTY FAIR: New events join favorites to make up 6-day run

        SHEPHERDSVILLE - From cooking with wine to having the best chocolate dessert, the 35th annual Bullitt County Fair kicks off its six-day run on Monday, June 14.

        This year's fair will feature many of the regular favorites but will also include some first-time events.

        Also new to the fair this year will be a presentation by Jeneen Wiche on how to grow an organic home vegetable garden.

  • Four indicted for sex-related crimes

        PIONEER VILLAGE - An investigation that first centered on one individual has resulted in two men being indicted by the Bullitt County Grand Jury.

        Pioneer Village police first began an investigation on Nathaniel Hamilton Hardy for his alleged interaction with a minor girl.

        That led to charges being filed against another man.

        Hardy, 20, was recently indicted for rape in the first degree, a Class Be felony punishable by 10-20 years in prison.

  • BULLITT COUNTY ROADWORK: Week of June 7

    The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Highway District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled in Bullitt County for the week of June 7:

    KY 1494 (Beech Grove Road): Roadway is closed at the bridge over Long Lick Creek (mile point 5.5) for bridge replacement. Motorists should detour the area via KY 61.
