  • Man with 3 mobile meth labs caught

    SHEPHERDSVILLE -A man allegedly driving around town with three mobile meth labs in his vehicle was caught by police Monday evening.

    Jonathan Knauer of Lebanon Junction was arrested by the Shepherdsville Police and the Bullitt County Drug Task Force.

    According to Kenny Hardin, director of the Bullitt County Drug Task Force, said that about 6 p.m. on Monday the Shepherdsville police stopped Knauer.

    Upon making the stop, police noticed an active methamphetamine lab in a one-gallon jug on the floorboard of the vehicle.

  • Trick-or-treat on Friday; Time change Sunday

    All Bullitt County areas will celebrate Halloween trick-or-treating on Friday, Oct. 31.

    There are no officially set times to trick-or-treat. A general rule of thumb is to participate between approximately 6-9 p.m.

    Anyone wishing not to participate should keep porch lights off and houses dark at the above times.

  • Shepherdsville police to increase Halloween patrols

    SHEPHERDSVILLE -- Shepherdsville Police will again increase patrols on Halloween night.

    Extra officers will be out on bicycles and in patrol cars to make the streets safer for Trick or Treaters according to Shepherdsville Police Chief Doug Puckett.

    “We will have additional officers out from 6:00PM to 9:00 PM. Children and their parents should take advantage of this time to Trick or Treat safely” said Colonel Puckett.

  • Two arrested for robbery spree that started in Bullitt

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - A robbery spree starting in Bullitt County on Thursday night ended several hours later in Jefferson County.

    Two individuals have been arrested and will face charges in both counties.

    According to Det. Scotty McGaha of the Bullitt County Sheriff's Department, the first robbery attempt was at the Red, White and Blue convenience store on Joy Drive, next to the old Bullitt Bowl.

    McGaha said Desiree Jackson, 25, and Brenton Wayne Dodson, 28, allegedly went to that store around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday but could not get into the business.

  • Concert in Park set for Friday in Mount Washington

    MOUNT WASHINGTON — The Mount Washington City Plaza on Main Street will be hopping this Friday as community members gather for the first-annual Concert in the Park.

    The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will feature local musical talent the Gene Branham Band along with karaoke, hayrides, a pumpkin decorating contest, tethered balloon rides, inflatables, face painting and fall-themed food provided by ValuMarket.

    The Concert in the Park was organized by local business owners Dan and Sharon Kelty and Jonathan Rideout in conjunction with city government.

  • School district steps up efforts to stop spread of whooping cough

    HEBRON ESTATES – The Bullitt County School District has stepped up its response against a recent whooping cough outbreak at Freedom Elementary School.

    As of today, nine Freedom students were confirmed to have the illness, also known as pertussis.

    Superintendent Keith Davis issued a letter to parents of FES students stating that any child exhibiting a runny nose, sneezing, low-grade fever and/or cough would be "temporarily excluded" from school.

  • Linda Belcher to be on fall ballot

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - The Bullitt County Democratic Party will have a candidate on the Nov. 4 ballot in the state House of Representatives race in the 49th District.

    Bullitt County party officials will have until Monday at 4 p.m. to submit a name to the secretary of state to run against Republican Trina Summers.

    The party leaders didn’t have to look too far to find a candidate to replace incumbent Larry Belcher, who passed away in a car accident on Oct. 6.

  • GUILTY: Life sentence in shooting

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - After nearly 12 hours of deliberations, a Bullitt County jury found Keith Moore guilty of murder.

    And it took only 30 minutes Wednesday to decide that Moore should serve a life sentence with no chance for parole for at least 20 years.

    The family of Tim Nevitt cried as the verdict was announced but Moore showed little emotion.

    He was also found guilty of complicity to tampering with physical evidence, first degree unlawful imprisonment, complicity to intimidate a participant in a legal process and wanton endangerment in the second degree.

  • BREAKING NEWS: Quick action helps control house fire

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - Two residents were treated for minor smoke inhalation following a fire in their Shepherdsville home.

    Shepherdsville Fire units responded to the home on Tyler Drive in Bratcher Estates just  after 10 a.m. Monday.

    Shepherdsville Fire Chief Brad Whittaker said an electrical line short inside a bedroom wall triggered the fire.

    Whittaker said one of the homeowners first noticed smoke and a noise within the wall and broke through it to find the fire. He said house damages were contained to the one interior wall.

  • Remembering Larry

    Thousands of friends, family, colleagues from the General Assembly and former educators paid respects last week for state Rep. Larry Belcher, who died in an auto accident on Monday. House Speaker Jody Richards delivered the eulogy written by Belcher’s daughter, Jennifer.
