  • Interstate 65 lane closures in Bullitt County June 17

     Louisville, KY (June 17, 2013) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists of lane closures today and this evening on southbound Interstate 65 in Bullitt County.  KYTC crews will be patching the pavement in the right lane on two different sections of the interstate. 

    The first section of work will occur between mile points 108 and 110 today from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  The second section of work will take place this evening between mile points 118 and 120 from 6:00 p.m. until midnight.

  • BE's Okruch set for two sports in college

     MOUNT WASHINGTON – Bullitt East senior Andrew Okruch is ready to become an engineer – in more ways than one.

         Okruch recently made it official that he would attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. At the school, Okruch will work toward an engineering degree while also being an Engineer, the school’s nickname, as he will play both football and compete for the track and field program.

  • Summerfest set Saturday in Lebanon Jct.

     For the second time Lebanon Junction will be hosting Summerfest in order to draw more people to its park.

  • Church teen group helps to fix up in Lebanon Jct.

     While most high school teens might be spending their first week of summer sleeping-in or plopped down in front of the TV, some teens from the youth group from First Presbeyterian Church in Lake Forest, Ill., chose to do something different—service.

  • New events sure to bring fireworks to County Fair

     CLERMONT - It will be a magical time next week with fireworks in the air and cowboys riding on the grounds.

      MOUNT WASHINGTON - The Mount Washington Main Street Committee is hoping to start a new tradition.

  • Bacher figures out way to help clean up trash, earn Eagle Scout

     HILLVIEW - Littering is a problem thatís all too common and 18-year-old North Bullitt High School graduate James Bacher saw a need to fix it.

    “Every time I walked through my neighborhood or rode through the city, I would see trash on the ground,” he said.

    Some people would make an effort to pick up trash, but Bacher said they would have to carry it home to dispose of it.

    Bacher used what he saw as inspiration for his Eagle Scout project, creating and installing 27 trash cans throughout Hillview and Pioneer Village.

  • VFW, Auxiliary install officers

     The Bullitt County Memorial VFW Post 5710 recently elected officers for the 2013-14 year.

    Danny Morrison will again be the commander, with Joe McIntosh serving as senior vice and Chris Bogacki as junior vice. Mike Bishop will be quartermaster with Dave Berry as chaplain and Buddy Waters as a three-year trustee. Mark Hall is the surgeon and David Dunford will be judge advocate.
