    DVD Mart Sales Discount Family Media Store is open for business at 1567-G Old Preston Highway N. in Hillview.

    Co-owners Thomas and Beth Joyce began with an online store 10 years ago, offering new DVDs and specializing in classic movies as well as hard-to-find or out-of-print movies. 

  • Light shed on issue of domestic violence

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - For victims of domestic violence, there is always a flicker of hope that life can be better.

    Light is continuously shed by the Center for Women and Families, an organization dedicated to eradicating domestic violence and abuse situations through assistance and educational programs.

    Every year CWF hosts a candlelight vigil in honor of domestic violence victims at the Bullitt County Courthouse. The vigil takes place in October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

     MOUNT WASHINGTON -- The old house located near Armstrong Lane has been the topic of conversation by members of the Mount Washington City Council for months.


     Don't forget to change your clocks this weekend as Bullitt County observes the end of Daylight Saving Time in 2013.

    Time falls backwards official at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, Nov. 3., meaning at 2 a.m. it will revert to 1 a.m.

    The next time-changing Daylight Saving Time event will take place on Sunday, Mar. 9, 2014.

    Homeowners and residents are encouraged to check smoke alarm batteries in their houses whenever Daylight Saving Time occurs.

  • Two recent NBHS grads die in auto accident

    HEBRON ESTATES - Tragedy struck the North Bullitt community as two recent NBHS graduates died in an auto accident early Friday morning.

    Destinee M. Barr, 18, and Marissa Jane Elmore, 19, were identified at the scene by Woodford County coroner Ronald Owens.

    The accident occurred in Woodford County, near Lexington. Local authorities said Barr and Elmore were in a Kia that was turning left from State Highway 341 onto U.S. Highway 421. The Kia pulled into the path of a pick-up truck.

     SHEPHERDSVILLE – Often no more than a tune-up for the opening of the play-offs the following week, this Friday’s final games of the regular season have more importance than normal for Bullitt Central and North Bullitt as they go on the road.

    Tied with Shelby County in the district standings, the Eagles and Cougars need to garner wins if they want any chance to overtake the Rockets for the number two seed and a home play-off game next Friday. With losses, both teams will be on the road next week.
