  • Shepherdsville City Fair July 26-28

     Hillview has a city fair, Mount Washington has a spring festival, Lebanon Junction has Summerfest, but what kind of festival or fair does Shepherdsville have?

    Shepherdsville hasn’t had its own city fair or festival for several years. Long-time Bullitt County resident Tony Thompson wanted to do something about it. 

    Thompson, along with mayor Scott Ellis and an eight member fair board, has spearheaded the creation of the first Shepherdsville City Fair. 

  • Fiscal Court questions use of jail canteen fund

          SHEPHERDSVILLE – With the purchase of two vehicles in the county’s name, Bullitt Fiscal Court members were shocked.

         With no approval given, two vehicles were purchased by the Bullitt County Detention Center and with proceeds from the canteen fund.

         In a pair of motions following a lengthy executive session, Bullitt Fiscal Court is seeking information from jailer Martha Knox.

     A new routine has caused quite a stink for Lebanon Junction residents.

  • MW Lions Club announces donations for year

     The Mount Washington Lions Club recently announced its donations for the 2012-13 year.

         The club donated a total of $16,059.15 to local organizations in the past 12 months.

         The largest benefactor was the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program, which received $4,000.

         The schools received contributions with Mount Washington Middle receiving $100, Bullitt East’s cross country team getting $1,840 and the Pleasant Grove archery club receiving $1,000.

  • MW U-8 All-Stars repeat as state champions

     ELIZABETHTOWN – Picking up right where they left off a day earlier in winning the Babe Ruth District 10 & 11 Tournament, the Mount Washington Under-8 Red All-Stars won six straight games in five days to win the Kentucky State Championship.

         It was the second straight year that this group of players and coaches sit atop Kentucky machine-pitch baseball having won the same two Under-7 titles last summer.

     HEBRON ESTATES -- The hard work has paid off for Cody Stinnett.

  • Driver loses control; car misses house, pool

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - A driver narrowly avoided a splashdown in a residential swimming pool Monday afternoon.

    Shepherdsville Police Ofc. Jeremy Wilson said a red Chevy Cobalt was headed eastbound on Highway 44 East when the driver lost control near the Shawnee Acres subdivision.

    According to Wilson, the driver, a 22-year-old female, lost control, leaving the roadway and crashing through a residential backyard fence on Mills Ct.

    The Cobalt crossed the yard, resting just a few feet from the above-ground pool.

  • North's Kennedy signs for baseball at Brescia

     HEBRON ESTATES – North Bullitt senior Anthony Kennedy has always wanted to play baseball in college.

         He will get that chance this fall after signing recently to play at Brescia University located in Owensboro.

         In the end, the decision to sign with Brescia was pretty simple – they made the best financial offer for Kennedy and his family. The only other school that Kennedy considered was Berea College.

    Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance and pavement marking crews on interstates and highways throughout the rest of the district on a daily basis.
