  • Blue Lick 12 falls few plays shy against Prairie Village

    OKOLONA - Different place. Same result.

    The Blue Lick 12 All-Stars came up a few plays short for a second consecutive tournament in falling to Prairie Village on Monday evening.

    After losing in the finals of the district tournament, Blue Lick fell to Prairie Village twice on Monday in the state tournament.

    While Prairie Village is guaranteed a spot in the Ohio Valley Regional tournament in Lexington this weekend, there is still a chance that Blue Lick will receive a wild card berth.

  • Thunderstorms, floods swamp area

    Heavy downpours Tuesday caused flooding issues in Bullitt County.

    Morning rains flooded creeks and streams, causing standing water in many areas.

    Some roads were closed in the county's north end for brief periods until water receded.

    At one point NWS reported 16 to 18 inches of swift moving water on Hillview Blvd. between Terry Rd. and Earlywood Way.

  • Fiscal Court asked to consider big hike an animal control fees

    CLERMONT - The cost of having the Bullitt County Animal Shelter handle your pets may be going up.

    But animal control warden Jimmy Miller will meet with county attorney Walter Sholar before a formal presentation is brought to Bullitt Fiscal Court.

    “We’re falling behind,” Miller said of the county fee structure.

    While the cost of caring for animals housed at the shelter have risen over the years, fees have not increased since 1996.

    Miller gave court members a list of proposed changes to the fee schedule.

    PRYOR VALLEY -- Raw untreated sewage -- 2,000 to 3,000 gallons of it -- has been seeping daily into Blue Lick Creek near Big Valley Mobile Home park off Pryor Valley Road.

  • County to solicit bids for banking services

    SHEPHERDSVILLE -- On the heels of being involved in the loss of over $415,000 in a cyber-theft, Bullitt Fiscal Court will be seeking proposals on a new financial vendor.

    Bullitt Fiscal Court has authorized the solicitation of proposals for the banking services of the county.

    All inquiries and proposals should be sent to county treasurer Kenann Bradley.

    A decision could be made by the next fiscal court meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

    In late June, the county’s payroll account was taken for over $415,000 in the on-line crime.

  • VIP Youth Poster Campaign unveiling August 12

    Bullitt County youth who model a drug-free life will be recognized at a poster unveiling Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Shepherdsville Government Center, 634 Conestoga Parkway.

    These VIP’s will autograph copies of their poster for the public at the unveiling.

    Nominated youths wrote an essay and were interviewed prior to the selection by a panel of community, civic and business leaders. Youth selected for posters exemplify a stand against harmful substances in their lives.

  • Shepherdsville to receive COPS officer through stimulus

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - It’s not a shovel-ready project for federal stimulus money but it’s close.

    The Shepherdsville Police Department has been awarded a Community-Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant for $183,859.

    The funds were part of a $1.25 million program set aside for law enforcement agencies in the Second Congressional District of Kentucky.

    U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie announced Shepherdsville’s grant on Tuesday. It is part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s COPS Hiring Recovery Program.

  • One inning of offense not enough for Blue Lick 15s

    BOWLING GREEN - Manager Scott Belt was confident that the bats of his Blue Lick 15-year-old All-Stars would come alive in the state baseball tournament.

    And, for one inning, they did. Unfortunately, the offense didn’t make the trip to Bowling Green and the local team finished with a 2-2 record.

    In the opener, Blake Hardy pitched a complete game and Blue Lick won 4-0.

    However, they did it without getting a hit off Warren County pitchers.

    Combining errors and walks, Blue Lick advanced to a second round encounter against Henderson County.

  • Parties seek early end to suit by former chief

    LEBANON JUNCTION - A year ago, police chief Darrell Paul was removed from his position as police chief.

    Now, the dismissal is a point of discussion for the Bullitt Circuit Court.

    Attorneys representing Paul and the city of Lebanon Junction were recently in court with each asking Circuit Judge Rodney Burress to rule in favor of their summary judgment requests.

    Kristie Walker, insurance attorney representing the city, said that Lebanon Junction mayor Butch Sweat removed Paul on July 30, 2008, at-will.
