     MOUNT WASHINGTON - The winning ways that the Bullitt East Lady Chargers have forged this spring continued last week as the red and gold won all four varsity games they played on a spring break trip to the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Florida.

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - After not playing for over a week, the Bullitt Central Lady Cougars capped off spring break with a trip to Russellville to compete in the Lady Laker Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

  • Salem Speedway to try again on Sunday to kick-off 2012 season with short-track festival

    SALEM, Ind. – Following a three week postponement due to inclement weather on April 1, Salem Speedway is set to open its 2012 season on Sunday afternoon with the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut Express Short-Track Festival.

    The O’Reilly Auto Parts Pure Stocks and Portland Recycling Front Wheel Drive Stocks are set to share the quarter-mile infield oval for a full slate of racing action.

  • Big season in 2012 could be tip of the iceberg

     

            SHEPHERDSVILLE - For the first time in history, all three Bullitt County girls’ basketball teams advanced to a regional tournament.

            That led into Bullitt East and North Bullitt meeting in the first round of the Sixth Region Tournament, another first for two local basketball teams.

  • BE's Troutman goes 185

        MOUNT WASHINGTON - Competing in the Jeffersonville Inferno Invitational on the Friday before taking a hiatus for spring break, Bullitt East senior Trevor Troutman went where few in Kentucky have ever gone before.

            In his speciality, the discus, Troutman uncorked a throw of 185-feet. That effort did win the competition by 24 feet.

  • Three winning squads made for a remarkable boys' basketball season

      SHEPHERDSVILLE - It doesn’t get much better for boys’ basketball fans in Bullitt County than it did this past winter.

            For perhaps the first time in history, all three local teams posted winning records.

  • Police investigating traffic fatality on Cedar Grove Road

      SHEPHERDSVILLE - Police are investigating the cause of an accident involving a fatality.

            The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon on Highway 480 at Interstate 65 involving a Ford Ranger truck and a tractor trailer.

            The Ford Ranger driver, Bernard Koester, 73, of Shepherdsville, was pronounced dead at the scene by Bullitt County coroner David Billings.

  • Individuals indicted for drug-related charges at grand jury

            SHEPHERDSVILLE - The following individuals have been indicted by the Bullitt Circuit Grand Jury panel for drug-related felony charges:

            *Nathan T. Houtchins and Michael Schrader - charged with complicity to manufacture methamphetamines, complicity to wanton endangerment and complicity to unlawful possession of a meth precursor.

            According to the indictment, the pair had equipment or materials needed to manufacture meth on Jan. 24, 2012.
