  • Man indicted for attempted murder

    BROOKS — A northern Bullitt County man has been indicted on the charge of attempted murder.

    John A. Burbank, 40, who entered a not guilty plea, has been indicted for attempted murder, first degree burglary and three counts of wanton endangerment.

    He remains in the Bullitt County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.

    According to the indictment, Burbank allegedly shot Timothy Gibson, a neighbor off Brooks Schoolhouse Road, on Feb. 19.

    Burbank allegedly went into Gibson’s home and then began shooting the victim.

  • BULLITT COUNTY ROADWORK

    The Department of Highways District 5 Office advises motorists to be aware of impending construction on Interstate 65 from the KY 61 underpass in Bullitt County to a half mile north of the Outer Loop in Jefferson County (mile points 118.5 to 127.5).  Work will begin the week of June 1 to repair the concrete pavement in this area.

    The roadway may be reduced to two lanes Mondays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning, and weekends from 9:00 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

  • Drowning victim Anthony Reynolds still not recovered from lake

    TAYLORSVILLE -- Divers are continuing their search for the body of a Bullitt County man who has been missing since Friday morning at Taylorsville Lake.

    Thirty-six-year-old Anthony W. Reynolds, of Shepherdsville, was last seen around 10 a.m. Friday after apparently losing control of the boat he was driving, said Lt. Shane Carrier of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife. Carrier said that Reynolds was test driving a client's boat that he had repaired, when witnesses said the vessel made an abrupt right turn causing Reynolds to be ejected from the port, or left, side.

  • Red Crow Pow Wow set for two-day run Saturday, Sunday

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - Native Americans are proud of their heritage.

    And Linda Dishon is proud of the resurgence of the Red Crow Indian Council’s annual Pow Wow.

    For the sixth straight year, the intertribal pow wow will be held at the First Street Park in Shepherdsville. The Spirit of the Eagle will be on Saturday and Sunday, June 6-7.

    “It’s a beautiful place,” Dishon said of the park. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

  • North Bullitt High School will really be cooking this summer

    HEBRON ESTATES – North Bullitt Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Olivia Farris thinks it’s a shame that more kids don’t grow up learning that cooking is not only fun, but a great learning experience.

    That’s why she is hosting her first-ever cooking camp that caters to kids ages 7 to 15.

    The camp will be fun for kids but parents can be assured that participants will be learning about healthy eating, cooking safety and even math skills.

  • Local entries bring excitement to Bullitt County Derby

    Inclement weather has made for sloppy conditions this year at Mike Farner Downs in the annual Bullitt County Derby.

    A strong field this season is led by the favorite, Road Pavey, an entry sponsored by Bullitt Fiscal Court and County Judge/Executive Melanie Roberts.

    “He has a strong track record, plus he’s hard to catch,” Roberts said.

  • Section 3 Semi-State Baseball Tournament: Game two set for Wednesday

    HODGENVILLE - Game two of the best-of-three Section 3 Baseball Tournament will be played on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at LaRue County High School.

    Bullitt East will have to win to stay alive and force a deciding game on Thursday.

    The first game loss will force Bullitt East to send junior Matt Bowles to the mound on Wednesday, but he will only be able to pitch for six innings. High school pitching rules permit a player to only work 15 innings in a calendar week. Bowles threw nine innings last Thursday in the Sixth Region championship game against Butler.
