  • 2009 Girls' Kentucky State Bowling Champions: North Bullitt on a roll, wins state championship

    HEBRON ESTATES - Turning the tables on teams that they had lost to during the regular season, including two-time defending state champion Pleasure Ridge Park, the North Bullitt girls’ bowling program brought home its first state championship last Saturday.

    It was a long and productive day for the team as they competed at King Pin Lanes in Louisville. It took five hours before the Lady Eagles defeated Sacred Heart 3-0 in Baker games in the championship showdown.

  • Eagle tennis has experience, but still seeks wins

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - The North Bullitt boys’ tennis team hasn’t picked up a lot of victories so far this season, but coach Monica Clark’s team is close to putting it all together.

    Part of the problem this spring is that some of the team members are also involved in other sports - mainly baseball. Some play for the Eagle diamond team while others are in local leagues

  • Living History at Shepherdsville Elementary

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - Fifth Graders at Shepherdsville Elementary enjoy many aspects of education during the annual "Living History Museum."

    Each year fifth grade students select a historical figure from American history to portray in the makeshift museum located in the school's cafeteria.

    Students dress and act as the selected figures, reading a biography of their character's life. Patrons have to step on a button located in front of each figure to 'activate' them.

  • Eagles' Sibley signs for baseball at Alice Lloyd

    HEBRON ESTATES -- With a little help from his older brother, North Bullitt senior Carter Sibley sailed through the recruiting process over the past year, signing on Friday to play baseball at Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, Kentucky.

    Older brother Tyler, who also played at North Bullitt, went through the same process, ending up at the University of the Cumberlands. He is now an assistant coach at Eastern High School.

  • Tapp won't seek return to state senate

    FRANKFORT - When voters go to the polls next year, there is guaranteed to be a new candidate on the ballot for state senate in the 20th District.

    Gary Tapp, a member of the Kentucky Senate since 2003, has announced he will not seek re-election in 2010.

    Tapp served in the Kentucky House for four years before his two terms in the State Senate representing District 20, comprising Shelby, Bullitt, and Spencer Counties.

  • Times can get tough even for the local Easter Bunny

    Bullitt Countians prayed more than usual during Holy Week when news was leaked about the firing of the local Easter Bunny.

    Clyde “Dizzy” Cottontail and his assistant bunnies were fired following their last egg hunt, just weeks prior to Easter, by Bullitt Fiscal Court. The decision was a result of two consecutive lackluster egg hunt seasons in the minds of county magistrates and many rabbit fans.

  • Meth crimes results in major prison sentences

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - Messing with methamphetamine doesn’t pay in Bullitt County.

    In cases last week in Bullitt Circuit Court, defendants learned the hard way that dealing or manufacturing in methamphetamine will result in serving multiple years in prison.

    Jonathan W. Knauer was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

    Attorney Jahmal Wooldridge requested probation for his client since it was his first felony offense.

    However, Circuit Judge Rodney Burress agreed with assistant commonwealth attorney Nick Raley.
