  • School system paving way to progress with new logo design

    MOUNT WASHINGTON – Jonathan England called himself pretty unimaginative.

    Yet, when the decision was made on which of the logo designs to select for the Bullitt County Publlic School System, it was England’s who stood above the rest.

    But his original design needed a bit of tweaking and school officials called upon a design from North Bullitt senior C.J. Parker for the finishing touches.

    Superintendent Keith Davis said the theme was moving forward.

    England said the basics of the logo was that you must stand up and reach for the light.

  • Vincent signs for volleyball with Kentucky Christian U.

    HEBRON ESTATES " Kentucky Christian University’s top-10 program got the signature of North Bullitt’s Jordan Vincent recently to continue her volleyball career at the next level.

    Vincent was flanked by her parents, sister and coaches during the big day in the North Bullitt library. Kentucky Christian coach Bruce Dixon was also present to make it all official.

    Vincent has been a part of the Lady Eagle program for the past four seasons. She has also competed for three seasons with all club teams in Louisville.

  • Bullitt East archery team has been on target

    MOUNT WASHINGTON - After doing well two weeks ago at the high school regional competition at Moore High School, Bullitt East’s first-year archery program will compete on Tuesday in the state championships.

    Bullitt East is part of Kentucky’s National Archery in the Schools Program. The Charger program is really a continuation of the program started at Eastside Middle School. When they students got to Bullitt East, they pushed for the high school to add the program.

  • Gates locked at Integrity; ZAP has new manufacturer

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - Police were called to the Integrity Manufacturing facility on a recent Friday afternoon.

    The concern was the employees might become upset when payroll checks at the local metal fabrication business were not available.

    While no trouble arose on that particular day, gates are now locked to the facility that once employed over 300 workers.

  • MW UMC breaks ground

    MOUNT WASHINGTON -- It’s a new day for the Mount Washington United Methodist Church.

    The MWUMC will be able to move ahead on its new building project with a little help from the Mount Washington City Council after the board moved to approve a resolution to issue the church up to $2.25 million for a multipurpose facility.

    The city’s bond issuance allows for the church to qualify for a lower interest rate than if it had obtained the financing through conventional methods.

  • Micah's O'Brien closes out college career at Spalding

    LOUISVILLE – Chad O’Brien, who grew up in Bullitt County playing basketball and then had a stellar career competing at Micah Christian Academy in the northern part of the county, recently completed a strong four-year career playing at Spalding University.

    The 6-4 guard took part in all but one game this season for coach Kevin Gray’s team and was one of four players on the team who averaged over 26 minutes a game on the court. For the season, O’Brien averaged 8.9 points a game and led the team with a 40 percent shooting mark on three-pointers.

  • Bullitt foursome part of national championship

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - What had been a regular season to remember for the Spalding Lady Golden Eagles ended being a spectacular campaign on Saturday when coach Charlie Just’s team defeated Southern Virginia 70-49 in the championship game of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national tournament in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

  • Shepherdsville Police investigating vehicle break-ins

    SHEPHERDSVILLE – The Shepherdsville Police is requesting your help in the case of many recent car break-ins.

    Over the past two weeks several cars in the local area have been broken into and various belongings have been taken.

    These break-ins have taken place all over the city and primarily in the industrial park area.

    The suspect vehicle is a late model (possibly 90s) Ford Explorer or Chevy Blazer. The vehicle is dark in color, possibly green. The vehicle is usually occupied by more than one white male and has a possible decal on the driver's side.

  • NB's Nichols to continue playing at St. Catherine

    HEBRON ESTATES – The move of St. Catharine University to a four-year school was just what North Bullitt senior Allison Nichols was looking for when it came to selecting a college.

    One visit to the campus in Springfield, Ky., was all it took for Nichols to decide it was the place for her, both athletically and academically.

    Recently in the North Bullitt library, she made it all official in front of family, coaches and St. Catharine head coach Paul Patton who has signed other Bullitt County soccer players in recent years.

  • Family tradition continues in Hillview as Burton selected to fill father's seat

    HILLVIEW — Serving the community runs in the bloodlines of many in the city of Hillview.

    Mayor Jim Eadens is the son of the late Bud Eadens, who served on the council for many years, was a police officer and helped start the Operation Santa program.

    Councilmember Kim Whitlock is the daughter of Dale Russ, another long-time councilman who retired and then came back for a short period to fill a vacant position.

    Prior to running for the council, Whitlock served as the city’s representative on the joint planning commission.
