  • BE's Johnson signs to play at Lindsey Wilson

        MOUNT WASHINGTON - The five seniors on the Bullitt East girls’ basketball team this season had been teammates since they were sixth-graders at Mount Washington Middle School.

        Now they are splitting apart for the next stage of their lives.

        The most recent to set her future was Samantha Johnson who on Thursday signed to play college basketball at Lindsey Wilson University.

  • Hillview City Fair...From pies to rides to pet contests

        HILLVIEW - One of the city’s most popular events is getting bigger...and better...this weekend.

        The Hillview City Fair is planned for May 27-29.

        The Hillview Recreation Department has worked hard to add some new amenities to the established event.

         Among the new activities are a pet show, karaoke/talent show, dessert cook-off and a pie in the face of a local official.

  • NB, BE track head to loaded regional today

    HEBRON ESTATES - One of the strongest contingents of local track athletes ever will start their journey to the Kentucky State Track and Field Championships on Wednesday as North Bullitt and Bullitt East head to North Oldham High School for the Class AA, Region III Championships.

    This will be the first time that a regional meet has been held at North Oldham which is located in Goshen. The facility is brand new for this season.

  • Bus service between county, Louisville begins new program

    MOUNT WASHINGTON - This week marked a momentous occasion for those who have spent years advocating public transportation for the elderly, disabled and low-income people of Bullitt County .

    On Monday community leaders and public transit advocates gathered at the Valu Market on Oakbrook Circle to commemorate the inaugural trip of the Bullitt County-Louisville Intercity Bus Service.

  • House fire in Brooks area; no injuries

        BROOKS - An afternoon fire damaged a Brooks home Monday afternoon.

        Zoneton Fire units responded to the residence at 311 Marvin Ave. around 1 p.m.

        ZFD Asst. Chief Kevin Moulton said an initial report by a neighbor claimed that someone might be in the house when firefighters arrived.

        According to Moulton the fire was primarily located in a master bedroom. Other areas of the house received smoke damage. An investigation was ongoing.

  • Chargers make it look easy completing district sweep

        MOUNT WASHINGTON - The Bullitt East Chargers seem to be getting hot at the right time of the year and that is bad news for the other teams in the 24th District.

        After already beating both North Bullitt and Bullitt Central by double-digit margins, the red and gold were expected to get a game last week from Southern in the game that would decide the number one seed for the post-season tournament the week of May 24 at Bullitt Central.
