  • MW owner decides to withdraw zoning bid

     MOUNT WASHINGTON - A few weeks after the Bullitt County Planning and Zoning Commission recommended a piece of property at Highway 44 and Fisher Lane be rezoned, the Mount Washington City Council voted to have the zoning request withdrawn.

  • 2012 Salem Speedway practice dates released

     SALEM, IN – The dates for Salem Speedway’s annual pre-season test & tune sessions have been released reports track management.  The short-track test is set for Saturday, March 24th with the high banks practice scheduled for Saturday, April 7th.

    The March 24th practice is only for divisions scheduled to compete on the Salem Speedway short-track during the 2012 season and the April 7th date is exclusively for cars racing on the half-mile oval during the upcoming season.

  • American Red Cross Valentine Gala; Prize package winners

        SHEPHERDSVILLE - The dance floor at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre was filled last Saturday night as the annual American Red Cross Valentine Gala was held.

    A large crowd again came out to help raise funds for the Bullitt and Spencer County service center.

    The Wulfe Pack band provided the music and Hans Sander provided the dinner entertainment.

  • 20-win Regular Seasons

                North Bullitt and Bullitt Central both recorded 20-win regular seasons with victories on Friday night.

                Lady Eagle eighth-grader Katie Downey scored 12 points on Friday as the green gold rolled past former Eighth Region rival Trimble County by a 61-49 count. After the game, the team celebrated at mid-court with the announcement that it was the first 20-win season in the program’s 36-year history.

  • BC scores at state wrestling

    LEXINGTON - A pair of local wrestlers got a good learning experience over the weekend as they competed in their first trip to the Kentucky State Wrestling Championships at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

                Bullitt Central’s Mike Saunders has made big strides throughout the season and he picked up the only win for the local wrestlers before finishing with a 1-2 record.

  • Lady Eagles' win on Friday is a record-setter

                HEBRON ESTATES - The North Bullitt Lady Eagles did something on Friday that had not been done in the 36 previous years of the programs’ existence.

  • Savings vs. Jobs; Custodial pleas heard...proposal dropped

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - Tomorrow evening the Bullitt County Public Schools Board was to consider a plan to outsource the district’s janitorial services.

    The controversial proposal put forth by BCPS Superintendent Keith Davis could have saved the district nearly $250,000 a year, but it would cost 80 custodians their jobs.

    That has now been pulled from consideration.

    In a statement Saturday, Davis said there was no support from the board to move forward with the cost-saving proposal.
