  • Transportation plan nears completion for Bullitt County

        SHEPHERDSVILLE – While Bullitt County awaits finalization of current road improvements, Fiscal Court members caught a glimpse of long-term future projects.

        Brian Aldridge, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KTC) planning manager, presented plans created in conjunction with Kentucky Regional Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA) research.

        Suggestions from two public input meetings and three steering committee meetings were factored into the plans, Aldridge said.

  • Jeff Watson Wins Super Late Model Main Event at Bluegrass Speedway

    BARDSTOWN - Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY had won at other tracks, but never at Bluegrass Speedway. That is no longer the case as Watson wheeled to the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model victory on Saturday evening at Bluegrass Speedway. For the first time since 2003, Sprint Car racing returned to Bluegrass Speedway with the American Sprint Car Tour delivering the action and Hud Cone of Oakland City, IN would take the A-Main win. Lastly, Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY would score his second win of the season in the $300 to win special for UMP Street Stocks.

  • Hillview council race not over just yet

        SHEPHERDSVILLE - When the candidates running for the six Democratic opening for the Hillview City Council, they may have thought their fate was decided.

        However, due to some non-city residents being allowed to vote in a single precinct, the primary election in that city will be determined in Bullitt Circuit Court.

        As required by statute, Bullitt County Clerk Kevin Mooney filed a petition asking Bullitt Circuit Judge Rodney Burress to conduct a recount of Brooks precinct 12.

  • Conservation district seeks more funds from county

        SHEPHERDSVILLE - A year ago, the Bullitt County Conservation District was asking fiscal court members to increase their appropriation.

        In return, the agency could provide grant funds for programs such as junk pickup and dead animal removal.

        The court members denied raising the annual appropriation of $27,000.

        The conservation board could have asked to impose a millage tax on all property owners but the members didn’t.

  • BULLITT COUNTY ROADWORK: Week of May 24

    The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Highway District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled in Bullitt County for the week of May 24:

    Bullitt County:

    KY 1417 (Martin Hill Road): Temporarily closed between mile points 0 and 1 for slide repairs. The roadway is scheduled for closure from 8 a.m. Monday, May 24, until 5 p.m. Friday, May 28.

    KY 1526 (Knob Creek Road): Lane closures and delays possible between KY 44 and KY 2672 (mile points 0 and 4.9) for roadway resurfacing.

  • Gajdik to take love of volleyball to Brescia

    MOUNT WASHINGTON - The game of volleyball requires a lot of thinking on your feet.

    For Brittany Gajdik, it is the mental aspect of the game which intrigues her.

    And her ability to think out on the court and her athletic ability will allow Gajdik to play on the next level.

    The Bullitt East senior recently signed her letter of intent to play volleyball at Brescia College in Owensboro.
