  • Pharmacy robbed; police look for 2 men in pickup

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - Police are investigating the second break-in of a local pharmacy in the past year.

    Shepherdsville police are looking for any information related to the Jan. 5 break-in of Medica Pharmacy on Highway 44 East.

    According to Sgt. Ken Bernardi, a white pickup truck with two subjects pulled into the parking lot around 8:05 a.m. on Jan. 5.

    Bernardi said that the passenger got out of the truck and took something from a tool box and walked toward the front door.

  • Conley interim principal at Bullitt Lick

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - When students and staff return to Bullitt Lick Middle School on Monday, a new person will be leading the facility.

    Scott Hrebicik tendered his resignation over the Christmas holiday and will return to a classroom teaching position at Bernheim Middle, according to superintendent Keith Davis.

    He declined to offer any details on Hrebicik's decision. After serving as assistant principal, Hrebicik was promoted when Harley Wise left four years ago to open the new Zoneton Middle School.

  • 2009-10 calendar to be up for vote; start time changes won't

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - On Tuesday night, Bullitt County Public School Board members will have an opportunity to get organized for the coming year.

    They will also have to decide upon a calendar for the 2009-10 school year.

    After doing surveys and having various meetings, the calendar committee will present board members with a proposal.

    Under the draft proposal, classes would begin on its earliest date ever - Aug. 5.

    Students would have a full fall break set for Oct. 19-23 after seeing that cut to three days this year.

  • I-65 cable barriers scheduled for installation

    The Department of Highways District 5 Office announced temporary shoulder closures on Interstate 65 in Bullitt County between mile points 109 and 116.

    Interior shoulder closures are possible daily as part of the installation of median cable barriers along this section of I-65.

    The actual starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.

  • Bullitt Central students evacuated Friday morning

    A fire alarm resulted in a temporary evacuation of Bullitt Central High School on Friday.

    In an email letter distributed by principal Christy Coulter, the school was evacuated around 8:35 a.m. Due to the extreme cold weather, Shepherdsville Fire units allowed students to wait in the gymnasium.

    A heat sensor unit activated the fire alarm. Students returned to their classrooms once the unit was reset.

    Coulter said students were not in danger at any time. She credited both students and teachers with following proper procedure throughout the incident.

  • Proposed fee could affect all development

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - It has been a long process reworking the planning regulations that date back nearly 40 years.

    And revising the subdivision plans to conform with the federally-mandated clean water act hasn’t been much easier.

    Before a public hearing is held on the new subdivision regulations, it appears the Bullitt County Joint Planning Commission has a lot of different opinions to consider.

    The biggest point of contention continues to be the impact fee proposed for any future development.

  • State Football Honors

    Bullitt County was not only represented on the field, but also off of it and at halftime last Saturday during the Commonwealth Gridiron Football Tournament.

    Before the Class 4-A Championship game, North Bullitt senior Dalton Cissell read the Sportsmanship Creed of the KHSAA. After that, Cissell flipped the coin before the Bullitt East-Bell County state final.

    At halftime of the Class 4-A contest, Cissell was presented with the Kentucky Footbal Coaches Association Player of the Year award in Class 4-A, Region 4, an honor he shared with Marion County senior Eric Miles.

  • Right to Life chapter to start in Bullitt County Thursday

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - Next week marks the 36th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, legalizing abortion in the United States.

    Since that decision over 50 million babies have been legally aborted nationwide. The topic of abortion remains a hot issue throughout the country.

    The Kentucky Right to Life Association, based in Louisville, is a volunteer, non-profit, pro-life organization with 15 chapters statewide. KRLA hopes to start a new chapter in Bullitt County.

  • Coulter pleased with direction being taken at Bullitt Central

    Christy Coulter started this school year as the new Bullitt Central High School principal.

    But she is not new to Bullitt Central. As she says, she is “home grown”, graduating from BC in 1983, and teaching there for fourteen years.

    Coulter recently spoke to the Shepherdsville Lions Club about how it is going so far with her as principal.

    And it seems to be going very well. Students and teachers alike report a new excitement in the air.
