  • Rockin' for a Cause

     A large crowd turned out Friday night at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre.

    The fund-raiser was to help relocate the Bowman Valley School, a one-room schoolhouse for African American students. It has been donated to preservation but money is needed to move it to a safer location next to the Woodsdale Schoolhouse next  to the Board of Education office.

    Todd Bodenheimer presented his tribute to Elvis as the main entertainment.

     This week Paul Coyle celebrates Groundhog Day with a favorite panel from 2007. We're hoping Paul sees his shadow, meaning six more years of Coyle's Corner panels.

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - To get a better handle on what parks activities are currently being held throughout the area, the Bullitt County Parks Committee will seek input from the various municipalities.

  • Lady Eagles split two key contests

     HEBRON ESTATES – It was a tale of various outcomes for the North Bullitt Lady Eagles in recent contests.

    Last Thursday, the green and gold made a return trip to South Oldham to take on the Lady Dragons, a team that they had lost to 54-51 in the first game of the Lady Dragon Hoop Fest, a holiday tournament just before Christmas.

  • Here is the steeple...

     Workers were busy last week at Vine Hill Baptist Church, which is located on Highway 245 across from Bernheim Forest.

    The wooden cross that sat atop the church for many years had begun to deteriorate and church members decided it was time to replace it

    A new steeple was installed last week and pastor Greg Crenshaw took these pictures of the occasion.

  • 2013 Salem Speedway season tickets now selling

     SALEM, Ind. – Salem Speedway season tickets are currently selling for the 2013 racing season.  They are priced at just $170 for reserved seats and $140 for non-reserved seating.

    Season tickets are good for admission to all 2013 motorsports events at Salem Speedway, including the spring and fall ARCA races, the Joe James/Pat O’Connor Memorial sprint classic, the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Midwest 150, the Firecracker 200, the Halloween 200 and much, much more.  

  • Board hears wide array of learning strategies

          SHEPHERDSVILLE - With a wide variety of learning strategies in place, the question is whether they are doing the job in providing better student learning in Bullitt County.

         That's a good question.

         Members of the Bullitt County Public School Board spent a couple of hours recently listening to some of the things underway in the district and why administrators feel that the vision is focused in the right place.

  • BE's Warner earns YMCA Youth Character Award

          Bullitt East High School freshman Savannah Warner has been honored with a Louisville YMCA Youth Character Award.

         YMCA Membership Director Anita Stump submitted a glowing nomination that accentuated Savannah’s belief on God.

         “I really liked that they highlighted my strong Christian faith,” Savannah said. “My faith is the most important thing in my life.”

  • ROADWORK: Week of Jan. 28

     The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled for the week of Jan. 28:

    Jefferson County:

    US 31:  Roadway is reduced to one lane in each direction on the Clark Memorial Bridge over the Ohio River (mile points 0 to 1.1) due to steel and sidewalk repairs. 

    Lane closures will be in place 24 hours a day for two 30-day periods, one for each side of the bridge.
