     MOUNT WASHINGTON - The Bullitt East Lady Chargers will host a series of pre-season scrimmages this weekend that will showcase some of the top talent in the state.

     HILLVIEW - The Hillview Police and Zoneton Fire Departments from the city of Hillview recently went to battle against each other on the basketball floor.

    The event was all in the name of charity as the proceeds will be used to fund the Operation Santa and the Crusade for Children.

    The game took place at the Hillview Community Center court.

  • Veteran's Day 2011

     Major Tim Starke didn’t think he would get to attend the annual Overdale Elementary Veteran’s Day salute.

    However, his unit returned home recently and Starke was once again a major part of the school celebration.

    But on Friday, his son, Ben, a preschool student at Overdale, also played a role. Wife and mom, Heidi, is a teacher at the school.

  • Charges against pair for abuse on to grand jury

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - A 12-member grand jury panel will now hear evidence against two individuals for the alleged abuse of a two-year-old boy.

  • World Diabetes Day

     Bullitt County Judge/Executive Melanie Roberts proclaimed Monday, Nov. 14, as World Diabetes Day in Bullitt County.

    She was joined by Jessica Craddock, who is the leader of the local efforts as part of the KIPDA Rural Diabetes Coalition.

    The entire month is observed as Diabetes Awareness Month and supporters are encouraged to wear blue each Friday in November.

    The next diabetes coalition meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the health department. The meeting will include a holiday recipe exchange.

     LEBANON JUNCTION - A mysterious shooting in Lebanon Junction left a Louisville man hospitalized Monday morning. 

  • 'B' team puts the defensive clamps on MW

        BERNHEIM - Pulling away in the second half, the Eastside Lady Eagles won the 'B' title on Thursday in the Girls Bullitt County Middle School Tournament which was played at Bernheim Middle School.
        The title was just the second ever for the Lady Eagles at this level as they beat the Mount Washington Lady Generals 30-14.
        The Girls' Middle School Basketball Tournament was sponsored by Schmid Funeral Home as well as The Awards Center and The Pioneer News.

        More so than any high school rivalry or most of the middle school battles, the girls' showdown between Eastside and Mount Washington Middle Schools hits closer to home.
