     SHEPHERDSVILLE - Bullitt East principal Debby Atherton and Charger athletic director Bob Blackburn made the trip to Lexington last Monday and spoke to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control meeting about the relationship the Bullitt County schools have with their regional partners in Jefferson County.

    The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled for the week of April 18:

    Bullitt County:

    KY 480 (Cedar Grove Road):  Construction delays possible between Interstate 65 and Cedar Grove Elementary School (mile points 1.0 and 2.0) due to roadway widening.

  • Foundation for education gala nears

     As Bullitt County Public Schools continues to move forward in every area, I’d like to use this month’s space to highlight a new community-based group that has stepped forward to support our public school system.  The establishment of an educational foundation has been one of our goals for quite some time, and at last, a group of dedicated community volunteers have come together over the last several months to make it happen.

     The 2010-11 Bullitt County Basketball Players of the Year were presented their trophies last week. The Bullitt County Player of the Year trophy is sponsored by Schmid Funeral Home, The Award Center and The Pioneer News. (Left) Keoka Hilliard of Bullitt Central was presented with the girls’ player of the year and (right) Hayden Sweat of Bullitt East was presented with the boy’s player of the year trophy for a second straight year. Mark Schmid and Tim Gonterman made the presentations of the annual award.

  • Weekend fire guts popular MW eatery

     MOUNT WASHINGTON – What was a bustling restaurant filled with people on Friday night was reduced to a fire damaged shell strewn with debris on Saturday after an early morning fire ripped through the Kettle Creek in Mount Washington. 

    Mount Washington Fire Chief Michael Dooley said Fern Creek, Shepherdsville and Mount Washington fire units responded to the scene at 1150 North Bardstown Rd. around 3 a.m., shortly after the fire broke out.
