  • Statewide tornado drills test preparedness

     FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 2, 2011) - At approximately 10:07 AM (Eastern Standard

    Time) Tuesday, March 8, the National Weather Service (NWS), partnering with

    Kentucky Emergency Management (KYEM), Kentucky Weather Preparedness Committee

    (KWPC) and Kentucky Broadcast Association (KBA) will issue a tornado warning

    test message.  Warning sirens will sound at this time across Kentucky

    communities, weather alert radios will activate and television and radio

    stations will broadcast the alert message.

  • Bluegrass Speedway Ready for Racing

      Bardstown - Bluegrass Speedway will begin its 17th season of dirt track sports entertainment with the upcoming 2011 season and track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will begin their 12th season at helm of the ½ mile high-banked clay oval.  With the slogan of “Where It’s Always Showtime”, the track will present a 17 event schedule, including an open test and tune practice night for all divisions of Saturday April 9.

       The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled for the week of March 7:

  • BE girls over central; faces Butler in finals

     LOUISVILLE - Sometimes taking the slow route is the best way to get the job done.

  • Railroad crossing road closures expected

     The Department of Highways District 5 Office announces the temporary closure of two roadways in Bullitt County due to CSX railroad crossing repairs.

    KY 1494 (Beech Grove Road) will be closed to thru traffic between KY 61 (Preston Highway) and Old Beech Grove Road/Horsefly Hollow Road (mile points 0.0 and 3.2).  This roadway is scheduled for closure from 7:00 a.m. on March 8th until 7:00 a.m. on March 10th.  Local access will be allowed.

  • UPDATE: Cedar Grove Road closures in March

     UPDATE (03/04): Due to inclement weather, the construction work on KY 480 in Bullitt County for this weekend has been postponed.

    This work and the temporary closure of KY 480 is scheduled from 6 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 12, until 5 a.m. Monday, Mar. 14.


    Motorists who usually travel Cedar Grove Road on the weekends should be warned.

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - When John Schmidt graduated law school, Burlyn Pike was there to hire him at his Shepherdsville legal practice.
