  • BULLITT COUNTY FAIR: New events join favorites to make up 6-day run

        SHEPHERDSVILLE - From cooking with wine to having the best chocolate dessert, the 35th annual Bullitt County Fair kicks off its six-day run on Monday, June 14.

        This year's fair will feature many of the regular favorites but will also include some first-time events.

        Also new to the fair this year will be a presentation by Jeneen Wiche on how to grow an organic home vegetable garden.

  • Local heavyweights lead the way to state

    GOSHEN - Competing in what could well be the most competitive track and field region in the state, North Bullitt’s and Bullitt East’s high-end track and field athletes put up huge performances on Wednesday at the Class AA, Region III Championships at North Oldham High School.

  • No Mercy - BE blasts Butler 17-10

        LOUISVILLE - The last time the Bullitt East Lady Chargers played at Ulmer Stadium on the University of Louisville campus in the Sixth Region Softball Tournament, it was against Butler. On that spring day in 2006, the red and gold had no hits and lost 6-0.

        That outcome seemed more like five decades ago, not five years ago, on Wednesday as the Lady Chargers pounded out 19 hits and rolled past the Bearettes 17-10.

  • BBB Warns Consumers about Scam Using Delta Airlines

        Some work-at-home scam artists are attempting to pass themselves off as Delta Airlines. A local consumer contacted the BBB about a letter she received in the mail that looked to be from the airline. The letter offered her a chance to participate in a paid Consumer Research Program as a mystery shopper.


  • Four indicted for sex-related crimes

        PIONEER VILLAGE - An investigation that first centered on one individual has resulted in two men being indicted by the Bullitt County Grand Jury.

        Pioneer Village police first began an investigation on Nathaniel Hamilton Hardy for his alleged interaction with a minor girl.

        That led to charges being filed against another man.

        Hardy, 20, was recently indicted for rape in the first degree, a Class Be felony punishable by 10-20 years in prison.

  • Memorial Day observance...

        The annual Memorial Day observance by the Vietnam Veterans monument in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington drew another large crowd on a sunny afternoon.

        There were various guest speakers to honor those who have fought in war and those who have lost their lives defending their county.

        The observance by the Vietnam veterans organization is an annual occurrence.

    11:45 a.m. - Baby Contest for Boys and Girls 18-24 months.

    11:45 a.m. - Nail Driving Contest

    7:30 - Derby King Demo Derby (Also the Roll Over Contest, Power Puff Derby, Pretty Car Contest and the first annual Tire Burnout Contest.


  • BULLITT COUNTY FAIR: Thursday's featured events


    5:00 - Beef Cattle Show presented by the Bullitt County Cooperative Extension Service and the Bullitt Central Future Farmers of America.

    6:30 - Backseat Driving Contest at the Horseshow Ring. $50 prize to the winning couple; $25 for 2nd.

    7:00 - Little Miss Bullitt County Pageant

    7:00 - ATV & Motorcycle Dirt Drag presented by B&M Motorsports. Entry fee $10 with 80 per cent payback.

    7:30 - Little Mister Bullitt County


    The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Highway District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled in Bullitt County for the week of June 7:


    Bullitt County:

    KY 1494 (Beech Grove Road): Roadway is closed at the bridge over Long Lick Creek (mile point 5.5) for bridge replacement. Motorists should detour the area via KY 61.
