  • Thank you, Mr. Schultz

Fifteen years ago, educator Greg Schultz interviewed for the principalship at North Bullitt High School.

The search committee, which had passed on the first group of candidates, some fairly impressive, were impressed from the start by Mr. Schultz.

The committee made the decision to hire him because of the energy he brought to the interview.

He has contributed to the shaping of Bullitt County minds ever since.

  • Good things in Hillview

This is in response to an article in The Pioneer News on April 27, 2016, regarding the Hillview lawsuit.

I have lived in Hillview for over 20 years. I don’t agree with what has happened but I totally disagree with the comments that were presented by the resident in the council meeting.

Hillview Police Department has done more in recent years than they have in the past and our services are even better.

  • Thanks to contributors

The Bowman Valley committee would like to thank Bullitt County Tourism for its generous donation of $500 to the Bowman Valley School Restoration Program.

We would also like to thank the DAR (Daughters of American Revolution) for its very generous donation of $4,000 to be used to place a monument similar to the one in front of the Woodsdale School, next to Bowman Valley School.

Thank you so much to these great organizations for their generosity and support to our project.

  • Tribute to Donna Rodgers

This is a tribute to a friend, Donna Lynn Whittaker Rodgers.

Donna passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016. This is not about her death but about her life.

Donna was truly an asset to our community of Lebanon Junction. She was a person of many talents. She gave back to our community, her church, her business and her family.

She was a committed business woman in her own right. I can still hear her laughter as I entered her hair salon that was set up in the back of her home. She served many of our ladies here in LJ.

  • Change Congress

Ranking out current GOP candidates after hours and hours of debates, interviews. Seeming them on all channels. CNN, Fox and MSNBC.

Donald Trump -- vague, general, most likely could and would work with both sides. Can showmanship get the job done?

Ted Cruz -- very scary; not truthful; bully; panders to religious right and wouldn’t work and doesn’t work with people.

Mario Rubio -- pulls too much from memorized responses; claims as first-term senator to have foreign policy experience because he attended meetings, briefings. WOW.

  • Need new leadership

     Well, here we go again.

Our town is now under siege by the James Gang and Calamity Taft.

But not to worry. The great citizens of this city know what’s going on.

After next election, some of the members of the current administration will have to find a new hobby.

    Gregory Troutman

  • Support Jennifer Stepp

Melanie Roberts running for state representative.

First thoughts were hooray we would have her leaving the county.

Second thought was if she hasn’t done anything in the county for the people of the county, why is she now being persuaded by Washington politics to be in Frankfort?

The Republicans only want her there for her vote.

Better question is why would she give up a salary of $100,000-plus (that is correct, one hundred thousand) for approximately $30,000?

  • Homeless efforts working

The current state of homelessness in Bullitt County and surrounding areas as verified by over 40,000 hours of intensive care.

We have slept with them. We have prepared hot meals for them daily. We have provided transportation for job interviews, doctor appointments, transported ‘guests’ from church location both morning and afternoon as well as a myriad of other essential transportation needs.

  • Hats off to EMS, fire department

On Dec. 30, 2015, Bullitt County EMS and Fire Department cam to my rescue, the situation was well under control in 10 minutes.

My patient was getting more ill and needed a physician.

The MES team consisted of a veteran EMS technician of 25 years. She, with a calm sense of urgency, instructed her partner, a young man in his early 20s.

  • Bro. Gerald Armstrong

One thing comes to my mind. We need prayers for people that know the Lord Jesus. They’ve been born again (saved) by His blood on the cross of Calvary. Luke 13:5 Romans 10:9-10,13

That our government will be run by Bible principles. The KJV is the only true Bible of God’s word.

In 1937 in Owensboro, Ky., was the last hanging for murder. Numbers 35:15-17
