  • Don’t get into scam

If someone calls and tries to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge or tries to con you out of money, do not go along with the scam, because that is what it is. They are trying to extort money from you. These people prey on anyone that will listen to them. In turn, you could loose everything you have worked for all of your life real quick. Many times I have hard about a person losing a loved one and falling in the trap these crooks have sprung on them by a scam.

  • Thanks to Valu Market

AARP Mount Washington and Bullitt County Retired Teachers Association wish to say thank you to Valu-Market of Mount Washington and their generous customers for the outpouring of donated food September 10. Gifts to our storefront collection baskets helped fill some of the empty spaces on food back shelves and fed those without enough resources to nourish their families.

  • Golf fund-raiser thanks

Bethel United Methodist Church held their 9th Annual Golf Scramble on July 9. Thanks to our sponsors, our players (22 teams), and our church family. A special thanks to Steve Peak and to Ronnie Atwood and Lou Ann Moore for coordinating the whole thing.

  • You are the elected ones

My understanding is that there are approximately 300,000 immigrants facing possible deportation in Federal Immigration Courts.

  • What about us?

I read the article regarding the Red Rock Group in the paper  and am amazed and appalled that this community who stands to have their way of life destroyed, their property completely devalued, (not to mention the ecological impact ) have not even been asked how we feel or what we think.

  • Thanks to everyone

The entire Tipton Family wishes to thank those who shared sympathy and compassion during the difficult and sudden loss of our Elizabeth.

Words cannot express how grateful we are for the support and generosity of the many individuals who, in special ways, let us know they care.

  • How I have become a very savvy shopper

I just started couponing during the past year. I saw it on a television show. It’s amazing how much money can be saved by just using coupons and watching the sales. I can usually save up to $50 or $60 dollars each shopping trip. At times I’ve even managed to get items for free.

  • A little bit of humor

I remember by mother telling us children different stories that happened during her lifetime.

She had a way of telling them that that was really funny to hear. One of her stories was about two of her brothers, Uncle Bill and Uncle Marlin.

  • Cedar Grove Road dangers

How many people are fed up with the construction nightmare on Cedar Grove Road? I have lived here for 20 plus years and have never experienced such traffic nightmares as with this new road widening.

  • Thanks for school support

The Mount Washington Community Ministry would like to thank everyone who donated money, gift cards or furnished supplies that helped to make the School Supply Drive a huge success.
