  • Forget the heat; don’t forget to visit the Fair

    OK, so it is a little warm. OK, it’s a lot warm.

    And, yes, it is a bit muggy. We give...it’s a lot muggy.

    So it put a few more curls in Dana Winchell’s hair on Monday night. It still didn’t distract from her beauty and grace in winning the Miss Bullitt County Fair crown.

    Forget all the weather-related excuses and be sure to make a visit to the 35th annual Bullitt County Fair.

    Once a year, the fairgrounds comes alive with rides, shows, pageants and food. You can throw in a few politicians, if you like.

  • Did lot of people forget to come out to the party?

        Since this is being written several hours before the polls are closed, why not look back at some of the events of the past several months on the campaign trail.

        And since I don’t know the outcome, some of the things I may think are weird, could actually turn out to be productive for a particular candidate.

        With time ticking down until the polls close, let us get begin.

        First, has there ever been such a quiet election season, especially during a countywide election?

  • Time to get budget done

        FRANKFORT - With a press conference and a plan, Gov. Steve Beshear told lawmakers Wednesday to prepare for a special legislative session May 24 to quickly resolve the budget stalemate that has threatened to shut down much of state government this summer.

        The governor revealed a compromise 2011-12 spending plan prepared by his administration in recent weeks.

  • BBB Warns Consumers about Scam Using Delta Airlines

        Some work-at-home scam artists are attempting to pass themselves off as Delta Airlines. A local consumer contacted the BBB about a letter she received in the mail that looked to be from the airline. The letter offered her a chance to participate in a paid Consumer Research Program as a mystery shopper.
