  • BBB Hot Topics: May 2014

Check out the latest scams and bad business in BBB’s April 2014 Hot Topics!

    1.    BBB is receiving calls about Free Government Grants! Scammers offer government money because a person pays bills on time, is a good citizen, or was picked in a random drawing. To receive the grant, the person must send fees via prepaid card or a wire transfer. There is no grant!

  • Thanks to Pioneer News

On behalf of the Bullitt County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, we would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude for the support of The Pioneer News.

Awareness is vital in educating the community of issues surrounding Bullitt County’s abused and neglected children.

With the help of The Pioneer News, we have been able to spread the word of our program’s need for volunteers and funding.

  • Thanks for auction help

We would like to thank all those who participated in our church auction. To name a few: Big O Tires, Shepherdsville; Big O Tires, Dixie Highway; John Wooldridge; Melanie Roberts; and Bruce Johnson.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the auction a success.

  • Vote for Robinson

I would like to ask all my family and friends to please vote to retain our friend and neighbor Monica Robinson for our County Attorney.

Monica has worked very hard these last four years as our county attorney and has saved the Bullitt County taxpayers thousands and thousands of tax dollars. Monica loves the Lord, her family, friends and neighbors. Monica is very active in her church and our community in many areas like CASA, Dare to Care and AARP to name a few. Monica has lived in Bullitt County all her life.

  • Vote for Wooldridge

I worked for John Wooldridge for 32 years before I retired.

As his secretary, I saw an attorney who worked long hours doing a lot of research and study so he was well prepared to represent his clients in court.

John has been an attorney for a long time and he knows what is needed to get a job done well.

On a personal note, John is also very down to earth. He enjoys gardening, hunting and fishing, which helps him to identify with people on many levels.

  • Vote for Robinson

Monica Robinson cares about the children of Bullitt County. As the County Attorney Monica is responsible for the prosecution of parents and caregivers who abuse or neglect the children.

I believe there have been approximately 500 new cases of abuse and neglect each year since Monica became County Attorney. As a volunteer with the court system I have seen Monica in action in court. Monica has allays shown her concern for the children and their future. I have learned a lot from Monica’s hard work in the courtroom and have so much respect for her.

  • Show hospitality to our guests for Derby Week

Over the course of this week, thousands of visitors will be in the Bullitt County area as Kentucky Derby festivities are held.

Some will be stopping off to get some of that expensive Kentucky gasoline. Others will be staying in local hotels.

Some may be eating at our local restaurants and others may be doing a little shopping.

Or maybe partake in some Kart Kountry go-kart racing.

Some may stop down at Jim Beam Distillery and take a tour and visit the Stillhouse, especially for Friday’s pre-Derby festivities.

  • What local flavor will win the Kentucky Derby?

A long, cold winter finally broke through to a beautiful spring, but heavy rains this week made a sloppy track at Hall of Famer Mike Farner Downs for the annual Bullitt County Derby.

Among popular entries this year is the Bullitt Fiscal Court colt Smoking Suit, son of former Derby favorite Smoking Ban and the mare Whowearsthepants.

Another favorite is School Cop, the Shepherdsville entry. School Cop comes from School Safety and Copper WIre.
