Today's Opinions

  • Best of Coyle: Easter

This week's Best of Coyle, from 2012, is offered up as a way to say Happy Easter to everyone in Bullitt County from the staff of The Pioneer News.

  • Can’t get hoops season out of your head yet?

Having troubles shaking off the losses by Kentucky and Louisville in the NCAA tournament?

    I understand.

Maybe a trip this weekend to the Knob Creek Gun Range in western Bullitt County might take your might off things.

With a little space to fill, think about the importance we place on the hoops game.

Some people are so excited they will decide to upgrade their living room by burning a couch.

For some, the NCAA is something worth betting on. It can be silly things between governors or it can be important things like money.

  • Tolerance is something we need to practice

A couple words for you today regarding tolerance. Or intolerance rather. Two fairly recent happenings have made me very upset and sad as an American.

The first was an ad (I’m sure you all remember) done by Coca-Cola for the Super Bowl.

  • Support Wooldridge

I would like to strongly endorse John W. Wooldridge for the Office of Bullitt County Attorney in the May primary.

  • Thanks to fire department

I had the misfortune of having a fire. I wish to commend Mount Washington Fire Department for prompt response and the professional manner in which they extinguished the fire and doing everything to restrict additional damage. They are very caring individuals thanks again for a job well done.

P.S. Thanks to the Windstream repairman who restored my phone service.

  • Sessions nears end; budget work now

FRANKFORT – This past week was the final full week of the 2014 Regular Session, leaving only a few days remaining until this year’s 60-day session comes to a close.

Most activity this past week in the Capitol centered around talks between House and Senate leadership to hopefully reach a compromise on a new two-year budget for the Commonwealth, and a road plan of projects in Kentucky for the next six years.

  • BBB Warns: Fake Malaysian Airline News Used as Scam Click Bait

The world is glued to the news about the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370. Now, scammers are taking advantage of curiosity over the missing flight. BBB is warning, don't fall for click bait teasers promoting exclusive footage of found passengers.

    How the Scam Works:

You are on Facebook, and a post catches your attention. "Video of Malaysia MH370 Plane Found in Bermuda Triangle. Passengers alive," it teases. Another popular version promises: "[NEWS FLASH] Missing Plane Has Been Found!"
