        CLERMONT - Even the US Postal Service has skeletons in the closet, so to speak.
        Clermont postmaster Sandy Perkins found one, of sorts, in the form of a 1948 Postal Laws and Regulations manual.
        Perkins was cleaning out a closet in a spare room of the Clermont Post Office, which is leased by Jim Beam. The former farmhouse was home to may Beam Family members over the years.

            Mount Washington resident Benny Hill recently pulled something unusual from his garden—a two and a half-foot banana cantaloupe.
            Even more unusual than the cantaloupe itself was how it was grown.
            The seventy-seven year-old spent weeks nurturing the cantaloupe on his 14-acre property on Ellis Cook Road intravenously.

    Camp Corral

     A dozen students from throughout Bullitt County recently participated in the week-long Camp Corral horse camp put on by the Shepherdsville/Nichols Family Resource Center and the Bullitt Lick/Bernheim Youth Services Center.

    The camp took place at Pegasus Stables in Mount Washington, where students learned everything from how to care for a horse to riding and everything in between.

    At the end of the week the students who participated in the camp rode horses in a parade for friends and family.

     The Bullitt County Public Library system recently hosted a special event unveiling an outdoor reading area at the Lebanon Junction Library. In rememberance of Doris VanVactor, who passed away in 2007, members of the VanVactor family said a few words in her honor before releasing two white doves.

    There have been years of district changes, new employees and new programs.

    There has also been success in the classrooms, increased test scores, and new programs that expand opportunities and bring new challenges and opportunities to students.

    In comparison to recent years, Bullitt County Public Schools will focus on the status quo in 2012-13 - where the district lacks in major changes, it increases emphasis on continuous improvement.
