  • Eastside Middle captures two cheer titles at state competition
    On Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, the Eastside Middle School cheerleaders competed at the KAPOS State Middle School Cheerleading Championship at AllTech Arena in Lexington. Like high school, each of the 16 regions sends their winner to the state level. Also like the high school state championships, the middle school level is broken down into several divisions based on the size of the team (small, medium, large and super large). For the past several years, Eastside has been able to have 2 competitive cheerleading teams.
  • Martial arts students test for next belt
    Students at the Three Dragons Martial Arts studio in Mount Washington were recently busy testing for their next belt level. Those testing that day included Stephanie Vires, Chasity Bowyer, Richard Bowyer, Angel Pope, Emily Arbaugh, Ethan Mueller, Ashley Campbell, Steve Hamilton, Lucas Manire, Billy Goodman, Paul Beckmann, Brian Goodman, Adam Phillips and Chris Adams.
  • Eastside finishes sweep with title
    MOUNT WASHINGTON – Winning the battle by outscoring their opponent in each of the first three quarters, the Eastside Eagles claimed another Bullitt County Boys’ Middle School basketball title on Thursday as they defeated the Bernheim Bruins 48-35. Eastside never trailed in the game and, after the Eagles had a 6-5 lead early in the game, they bolted to a 14-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The Eagles were up 26-17 at halftime.
  • Hebron beats Eastside in OT for ‘B’ crown
    MOUNT WASHINGTON – It took an overtime period, but riding 32 points from T.J. Toney, the Hebron Panthers captured the title in the Bullitt County Middle School Boys’ Basketball Tournament 7th-grade classic on Thursday with a 50-47 win over Eastside. Eastside forced the overtime when Hunter Mahoney drained a three-pointer with 16 seconds remaining to tie the score at 45-45. The Eagles had led 37-33 early in the final quarter before the battle down the stretch.
  • YMCA Adult Hoops League
    Registration is now underway for the YMCA Men’s Basketball league. Limited spaces available with the final deadline Nov. 30. Games will be played at Bernheim and Zoneton Middle Schools. The fee is $500 per team. The first game will be on Sunday, Dec. 13. For more information, contact the Bullitt County YMCA at 955-6433.
  • 11 three-points lead to ‘A’ team reversal
     BERNHEIM –It’s never easy to beat a good team three times. It’s just about impossible beat a good team three times when during the third meeting the team connects on 11 three-pointers.
  • Late threes lift MW past Eastside in ‘B’ final
     BERNHEIM –Connecting on a trio of three-pointers over the final 90 seconds of the game, the Mount Washington Lady Generals’ seventh-grade team rallied to beat Eastside 38-35 in the Championship Game of the Girls’ Bullitt County Middle School Basketball Tournament on Thursday. The win reversed two regular season losses by Mount Washington to their arch-rivals.
  • Charger Gold turns tables on Red for title
     SHEPHERDSVILLE -- It was a neighborhood battle on Saturday. It was a game of teams with players who had been teammates in the past. And it was a game in which many will become teammates once again at Bullitt East. On this particular evening, the top seeded East Gold would defeat the East Red for the right to be called champions of the A Division in the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League. The 28-14 victory capped off an undefeated season for coach John Jutz’ team.
  • Vikings complete sweep en route to championship
     SHEPHERDSVILLE -- Entering the playoffs as the fourth seed, the Cedar Grove Vikings had a little work to do. And work they did do as the Vikings advanced to the championship game of the Little Bullitts Division of the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League. The last hurdle would be the second-seeded Mount Washington Colts. At the end of the day, it would be mission accomplished for coach Pat Bristoe and his Vikings. Cedar Grove took home the championship trophy with a 20-12 victory.
  • Big plays, tough defense carries Dolphins to title
     SHEPHERDSVILLE -- Good defense wins championships. The Pleasant Grove Dolphins proved that on Saturday and they took home the championship for the Pee Wee division of the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League. Two big plays and a suffocating defense led the Dolphins to the 12-0 victory over the Maryville Patriots. Quarterback Carson Waddle took the ball on the opening Dolphin drive and would score on its third play. He ran 48 yards for the touchdown with 4:01 left in the opening period.
