MOUNT WASHINGTON - Just call it the 'Perfect Storm' of positive events recently when the Eastside Lady Eagles and the Mount Washington Lady Generals collided in a late-season meeting at Eastside.
Just two days earlier, the two strong teams had moved into the quarter-finals of the 2012 Kentucky Girls' Middle School Basketball Tournament at the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington.
MOUNT WASHINGTON - Eastside Middle School recently did something no other basketball team has ever done from Bullitt County - winning the 2012 Kentucky State Middle School Tournament.
Under the direction of head coach Samantha Downs, the Lady Eagles put together a perfect weekend of basketball, winning six consecutive games to win the title at the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington. A year ago, the team had reached the final four of the seventh-grade state tourney, falling in overtime.
SHEPHERDSVILLE — Dylan Baker took his place behind center as the Mount Washington Colts were clinging to a one touchdown lead in the Little Bullitts championship game for the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football and Cheerleading League.
Championship Saturday is set in The Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League after play this past weekend with the semi-finals contested in all four age divisions. All four of the top-seeded teams advanced to the championship games along with two of the second-seeded teams as well as two number three seeds.
That means the end of the season for the majority of the teams in the league. Still, All-Star competition will have practices next week with games the following weekend.
