  • Blue Lick U-9 All-Stars get good game experience
It was a short stay for the Blue Lick U-9 All-Stars in district play as the team lost two games right off the bat and were eliminated. This age group is in its first season of competing with player pitching which is a big adjustment from years of machine-pitch competition. Blue Lick was hosting the tournament. Members of the team included Nolan Amburgey, Brandon Arroyo, Domanic Arvin, Caleb Day, Nolan Dunnavan, Marco Gonzalez, Beau Hornak, Joseph Johnson, Carson Luttreell, Kenden Rice, Jalen Sanders, Bradley VanWinkle and Baren Williams.
  • Rain shortens state week for two U-15 teams
LOUISVILLE -- Two local teams got a rude welcome to the West Kentucky Babe Ruth tournament. The Blue Lick and Mount Washington 15-year-old All-Star teams each got to play one pool game and one bracket game before being eliminated over the weekend. Due to rain throughout the week, the format was changed to a single pool game on Saturday to determine seeds for the single-elimination bracket play, which started on Sunday. Blue Lick
  • Blue Lick U-11 All-Stars find trouble in opener
VALLEY STATION - Drawing Prairie Village in the first round is not a pleasant thing when it comes to post-season baseball action. And then you have to play them on its home field. On Tuesday, the Blue Lick 11-year-old All-Stars ran into a big hitting machine in the opener of the Cal Ripken district tournament. Nate Jones did it on the mound and at the plate for Prairie Village. Jones threw three shutout innings and stroked a long two-run home run to power a 10-0 five inning victory.
  • MW U-8 All-Stars finish 2-1 during state tourney
FERN CREEK – A week after finishing third at the district level, the Mount Washington U-8 All-Star team was back in action last week at the West Kentucky Cal Ripken State Tournament at Fern Creek Park. Once again, coach Josh McGoff’s team had to battle both some strong opponents as well as Mother Nature. Both pool play and bracket play in the 26-team event had schedule changes because of all the rain in the area last week.
  • More All-Star action planned for this week
SHEPHERDSVILLE – A lot of summer All-Star baseball has already been played and is included on this page and there is a lot more still to be played including a number of tournaments this week. As of Tuesday, this is what we know about. U-18 All-Stars at Okolona
  • Rain can’t dampen Bullitt Blast Dash
A little rain couldn’t dampen the fun for a large group of runners who took part in the Bullitt Blast Run/Dash on Saturday. A number of the runners were decked out in red, white and blue holiday garb for the 5K run and walk. The event was sponsored and conducted by the Bullitt County YMCA. This was the second year for the event. The race started in front of the Bullitt County YMCA and ran through the streets of Shepherdsville.
  • MW U-8 All-Stars are headed to state tourney
MIDDLETOWN – Rain made for a very long week for the Mount Washington U-8 Baseball All-Stars last week in the District Tournament at Crosby Park conducted by the East Louisville Sports Youth League.
  • End of the road for Blue Lick U-12 Stars in state tournament
OKOLONA -- It was yet another battle of familiar foes. While Blue Lick had defeated Germantown to win the district title, the young men in green would have the last laugh in the state tournament. By virtue of its 8-5 victory on Sunday, Germantown earned a berth in the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament, to be held in Lexington, no matter its outcome in the championship game against Hikes Point. In the loser’s bracket final, two mighty swings of the bat spelled doom for Blue Lick.
  • Blue Lick U-15 falls in district but advances to state
OKOLONA -- It wasn’t pretty but you don’t get style points for beauty in the game of baseball. And the local All-Star team didn’t close out the district tourney with a pretty performance but it was good enough to earn a place in the state tournament. At the end of the marathon opener of the Babe Ruth 15 and under district baseball tournament, Blue Lick got out of town with a 13-11 victory. Okolona, down 8-1 at one point, had the tying run at the plate when Dayton Perkins recorded the final out.
  • Mt. Washington U-15 All-Stars to play in West Kentucky State
LOUISVILLE – The Mount Washington U-15 All-Stars will join the Blue Lick All-Stars in this week’s West Kentucky U-15 State Tournament, but this team took a completely different route to the state event. In fact, the Mount Washington All-Stars have yet to play a game.
