HILLVIEW - For 20 years, the Bullitt County Dolphins were the summer destination for local swimmers who wanted to have a competitive outlet for their endeavors.
MOUNT WASHINGTON - There was action all around the Mount Washington Youth Baseball and Softball complex recently with the Bullitt East Charger baseball camp.
The annual summer event, conducted by Bullitt East coaches Jeff Bowles and Craig Sharpe attracted over 100 players to two sessions as players were looking to improve their skills.
Many were working out before entering Cal Ripkin/Babe Ruth action which starts this week.
SHEPHERDSVILLE - The first annual Bullitt Central Cougar Baseball Camp proved to be a success last week as 40 young players learned more about the game under the tutelage of head coach G.J. Moore and his coaches and players.
The only negative during the four-day camp was that rain during the week forced the players to change from cleats to tennis shoes as they moved inside the Bullitt Central gym for two days.
Steve Larimore, chairman of the Bullitt County Parks Board, and June Daugherty, executive director of the Bullitt County Family YMCA, led the ceremonies Tuesday as the ribbon was cut on the new and improved Bullitt Central swimming pool.
The facility now features a spray park and newly renovated restrooms.
Included in the ceremonies was Rose Haley, an original organizer of the YMCA in Bullitt County.
The pools are open Noon until 6 p.m. seven days a week in Shepherdsville, Mount Washington and Pioneer Village.
MOUNT WASHINGTON - The oldest of the high school summer sports camps returned for a 21st year recently when Bullitt East hosted the Charger Hoops Camp.

The second annual Lady Eagle Basketball Camp was a success last week at North Bullitt under the direction of head coach Amber Courtney.
There was plenty of fun including ‘Crazy Sock Day’ as well as plenty of hoops activities.
