  • Summer Volleyball Action
     There was plenty of interest last week in a youth volleyball camp at North Bullitt put on by Lady Eagle head coach Ashley Byerley and her players and assistant coaches. The second year coach had 60 young ladies taking part along with a handful of boys. The group got to work on learning the game with drills and fun activities as well as getting to play matches.
  • 7th-grade group wins AAU state; next stop nationals
     MOUNT WASHINGTON - A group of young basketball players who are expected to make a lot of noise in the coming years at Bullitt East, got a jump on that this spring as they won the Girls’ Kentucky AAU 7th-grade Division II State Championship in Lexington.

     Results from the 2012 Bullitt County Middle School Track Meet hosted at North Bullitt High School: BOYS Team Scores - Mount Washington (MW) 91; Eastside (ES) 84; Bullitt Lick (BL) 82; Hebron (H) 72; Zoneton (Z) 39; Bernheim (B) 33. 55-meter hurdles - Drake (BL), 16.53; Dossey (MW), 17.42; Claycomb (H), 17.69; Beatrizola (BL), 18.03; Wurtsmith (MW), 18.12; Vincent (ES), 18.19.
  • Teams advance to national archery contest
     MOUNT WASHINGTON - Two local archery teams will have a shot at becoming national champions this weekend.
  • University of Louisville baseball players visit Pleasant Grove Elementary
     University of Louisville baseball players recently visited Pleasant Grove Elementary for Read Across America, the National Education Association’s annual reading motivation and awareness program. The U of L players visited PGES on March 2, which was Read Across America day and the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss. The players read Dr. Seuss books aloud and fielded questions from students.

                HEBRON ESTATES - Christopher Badgett knows that a good referee must understand the rules of the game, how the game is played, what calls to make and when to call them in a strong voice.             "Basically you're controlling the field and this game," he said. "You're in communication with other referees and the coaches."
  • Bullitt County Shooting Sports always looking for new members
     Bullitt County Shooting Sports began in 1993 with just a rifle team. Today we shoot Archery on Monday nights at Chickasaw Archery Club from 6-8:30 p.m. 
  • Zoneton Middle hosts Jimmy V Foundation tourney
     Zoneton Middle School hosted the second annual V Foundation basketball tournament to raise funds for the Jimmy V Foundation. The goal of $5,000 was exceeded in the tournament that featured teams from throughout the region. There was a silent auction and tournament items were sold. The tipoff speech was delivered by Scott Davenport, head coach of the Bellarmine Knights, who won the national title last year.
  • Deja Vu doesn’t bite Mount Washington again
     MOUNT WASHINGTON - In a rematch of last season’s ‘B’ final, the Mount Washington Generals barely avoided déjà vu all over again in Thursday night’s ‘A’ Championship game of the Bullitt County Middle School Basketball Tournament.
