MOUNT WASHINGTON - Six Bullitt County archery teams were recently represented in the 2011 Kentucky National Archery in the Schools Program Championship where more than 2,500 students from 148 Kentucky schools gathered to show their stuff.
4-H shooting sports began in Kentucky in 1988 largely due to the effects of Dr. Joe Kurth of UK. There are presently 7k kids in Kentucky that participate in 4-H shooting sports.
We have expanded to a two day state tournament shooting Archery, Black powder, Rifle and Pistol on Saturday and Shotgun on Sunday. Last year we had 1k participants- not all shooters choose to compete.
