CONNERSVILLE, IND. - When the Ohio Valley Regional tournament for 14-year-old All-Stars started, Troy Hayes didn’t think too many people knew anything about his Blue Lick squad.
The Mount Washington Under-10 Softball All-Stars recently reached the semi-finals of the Cal Ripken Kentucky State Tournament at Fern Creek.
The team lost two games in early round play, then came back in the bracket play and reversed the tables on Fern Creek White.
The MW team had only nine players.
Team members included Shelby Knieriem, Andrea Watts, Lila Dangerfield, Kaylie Davis, Madison Back, Bella Goodlett, Morgan Harbolt, Danielle Love and Jadin Disney.
The Mount Washington 6U All-Stars were recently crowned co-champions of the Fern Creek Cal Ripkin Firecracker tournament.
The local stars stumbled out of the blocks going 1-1-1 in pool play.
However, they beat Fern Creek Black and Germantown in the tournament.
They were leading Fern Creek Orange 6-0 in the championship game before Mother Nature stopped play.
The Mount Washington 5-6 year old Pirates won the regular season crown with a 10-0-2 record.
Then, the team went on to win all three games in the post-season tournament.
Team members include: Beau Cook, Carson Waddle, Gage Tokar, Trenton Wood, Kendall Henson, Luke Aubrey, Jenna Sherrard, Klaire Hourigan, Garrett Durbin, Evan Johnson, Tylan Haden and Chase Parsons. Coaches were Kevin Waddle, Troy Wood and Josh Tokar.
DODGEVILLE, WIS. - After falling into the loser’s bracket the very first game, the Blue Lick 18U All-Stars battled back to finish third in the Ohio Valley Regional baseball tournament.
LOUISVILLE - So much for doing things the easy way. In the end, it was head coach Troy Hayes who gladly accepted the ice-cold water bath after his Blue Lick 14-year-old All-Stars celebrated their first state title.
BOWLING GREEN - With only a minor sputter, the Blue Lick 15 All-Stars got off to a quick start Sunday and then coasted to its second straight state baseball title on Sunday.
