  • Early offense propels Old Mill past Jaguars for crown
     SHEPHERDSVILLE - Before the season started, Brandon Egan didn’t know what type of football team he had. But, after a couple of pre-season practices, Egan quickly knew that his Old Mill Bengals would be a very good team. That analysis was a good one as the Bengals went undefeated. In the championship game of the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League, the Bengals defeated the Lebanon Junction Jaguars for the Pee Wee title. “It’s been a great season,” said Egan.
  • Maryville caps perfect run with a win over the Saints
     SHEPHERDSVILLE -- With its undefeated record and top seed on the line, the Maryville Patriots were not about to give their opponents any hope for an upset. In the championship game of the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League Little Bullitts division, Maryville jumped on top early and defeated the Brooks Saints 31-13. On the opening kickoff, Maryville went for the on-side kick and Garrett Coy recovered at the Patriot 33.
  • Field is now set for Championship Saturday
     Winter and The Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League ran head-on into each other on Saturday as the four age groups competed in semi-final round action. It was overcast, breezy and cold throughout play on Saturday, but the action was hot all day. Now there is just one-day left in the season for the top teams and that will be on Saturday. The following week will involve ‘All-Star’ practices with games the following Saturday. Championship Saturday will be on Nov. 8.   New ‘A’ Division
  • The play-offs have arrived with a bang for teams
      It was a longer than normal weekend for The Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League as the teams played the final weekend of the regular season on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, the eighth and ninth place teams in the three younger age divisions played their ‘play-in’ games to get each division down to an eight-team bracket for the rest of the post-season which will start on Saturday. Championship Saturday will be on Nov. 8. The program with the bye in the three younger divisions on Saturday was the Maryville Patriots.

     FRANKFORT - Work, family and school commitments can leave little free time in a day, but hunters can help themselves by carving out some time to scout an area. Kentucky’s archery season for deer is underway with the crossbow, youth-only firearm, muzzleloader and modern gun deer seasons still to come. So there’s time to find a place to hunt and scout it.
