  • Hebron Middle School Archery Team competes at World Tournament
     Participating in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) competition was quite a thrill for Hebron Middle School students and coaches. With a team score of 3,078, they were only 12 points away from early registration…for the World Tournament in St. Louis, MO.
  • Local swimmers spend summer with the Dolphins
     SHEPHERDSVILLE – A summer tradition in the area continued with increased momentum in 2013 as the Dolphins swimming program continued to attract a large number of local youngsters to competitive swimming.
  • East Lady Chargers finish fifth at AAU nationals
     MOUNT WASHINGTON – Another summer, another big finish in an AAU National Tournament for the East Lady Chargers.
  • MW U-8 All-Stars repeat as state champions
     ELIZABETHTOWN – Picking up right where they left off a day earlier in winning the Babe Ruth District 10 & 11 Tournament, the Mount Washington Under-8 Red All-Stars won six straight games in five days to win the Kentucky State Championship.      It was the second straight year that this group of players and coaches sit atop Kentucky machine-pitch baseball having won the same two Under-7 titles last summer.
  • Blue Lick 7 All-Stars
     The Blue Lick 7-year-old All-Stars advanced to the Kentucky State Championships held at Okolona. After pool play, the team lost to the host Okolona team on Sunday. Blue Lick 7 All Stars include: Michezl Bentley, Emily Bible, Cody Darby, James Foster, Marco Gonzalez, Brandon Gutierrez, Beau Hornak, Joseph Johnson, Eric Lynn, Colin Neagle, Blake Pedley, A.J. Quiroz and Baren Williams.
  • Challis Ford U-18 Stars finish 2-2 in state tourney
      OKOLONA – With a team primarily made up of 16 year olds, head coach Tommy Parker wasn’t looking to win the Kentucky 16-18 baseball tournament. But he was looking to get his young team, sprinkled with some older players, experience for the future. During its four-game trek, Parker’s team exceeded expectations to win 2-2 for the tournament, hosted by Okolona Youth Baseball.
  • Blue Lick’s U-18 squad comes up short of repeating
     OKOLONA – Defending a championship is always difficult. No matter the sport or no matter the feat, repeating is tough.
  • Blast Dash was a wet one
    The Bullitt County Family YMCA sponsored the July 4 Bullitt Blast Dash on the morning of the big holiday event. Despite the rain, the run and walk drew dozens of participants who sloshed their way from Paroquet Springs Conference Centre to the city park and back.
  • BL U-10 All-Stars drop two
      The U-10 Blue Lick All-Stars, playing in the district tournament at The Okolona Youth League, ran into a buzzsaw in its opener against Southwest Louisville on Wednesday. The local all-stars were then eliminated by Prairie Village in their second game.
  • Tough end for MW U-12 Stars
     SAINT MATTHEWS - A tough time out of the gate put the Mount Washington U-12 Baseball All-Stars behind the eight-ball and the team never recovered in the district tournament at St. Matthews Park.
