  • Rain can’t dampen Bullitt Blast Dash
A little rain couldn’t dampen the fun for a large group of runners who took part in the Bullitt Blast Run/Dash on Saturday. A number of the runners were decked out in red, white and blue holiday garb for the 5K run and walk. The event was sponsored and conducted by the Bullitt County YMCA. This was the second year for the event. The race started in front of the Bullitt County YMCA and ran through the streets of Shepherdsville.
  • MW U-8 All-Stars are headed to state tourney
MIDDLETOWN – Rain made for a very long week for the Mount Washington U-8 Baseball All-Stars last week in the District Tournament at Crosby Park conducted by the East Louisville Sports Youth League.
  • End of the road for Blue Lick U-12 Stars in state tournament
OKOLONA -- It was yet another battle of familiar foes. While Blue Lick had defeated Germantown to win the district title, the young men in green would have the last laugh in the state tournament. By virtue of its 8-5 victory on Sunday, Germantown earned a berth in the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament, to be held in Lexington, no matter its outcome in the championship game against Hikes Point. In the loser’s bracket final, two mighty swings of the bat spelled doom for Blue Lick.
  • Blue Lick U-15 falls in district but advances to state
OKOLONA -- It wasn’t pretty but you don’t get style points for beauty in the game of baseball. And the local All-Star team didn’t close out the district tourney with a pretty performance but it was good enough to earn a place in the state tournament. At the end of the marathon opener of the Babe Ruth 15 and under district baseball tournament, Blue Lick got out of town with a 13-11 victory. Okolona, down 8-1 at one point, had the tying run at the plate when Dayton Perkins recorded the final out.
  • Mt. Washington U-15 All-Stars to play in West Kentucky State
LOUISVILLE – The Mount Washington U-15 All-Stars will join the Blue Lick All-Stars in this week’s West Kentucky U-15 State Tournament, but this team took a completely different route to the state event. In fact, the Mount Washington All-Stars have yet to play a game.
  • Summer Soccer Camp Fun
The Women’s World Cup isn’t the only soccer being played this summer. Both Bullitt Central and Bullitt East recently hosted soccer camps for young players and there was a strong turnout at both events. The young players got to work on some fundamentals in learning the game and played some games as well as also just getting to have some fun picking up the basics of the game.
  • Help needed with summer diamond All-Stars
SHEPHERDSVILLE-- It's here again.     It is time for the summer baseball and softball All-Star season.     Normally, my internal clock for covering such things tells me that around the July 4th holiday that All-Star action will begin. Often times, it is the first weekend after the holiday.     This year, word is trickling in that some leagues and age groups are getting a jump on that, starting play as early as this week.
  • Girls’ hoops camps at BC and NB
Fun was the name of the game last week as both the Bullitt Central and North Bullitt girls’ basketball programs conducted summer camps for some of their future players. There was plenty of fundamental work that got done as the young players worked with both the coaching staffs as well as learning from some of the varsity team members about what it takes to become a high school basketball player.
