  • Local hoops will be missing a key game this winter

SHEPHERDSVILLE – Over the past 33 years, since the formation of Bullitt East in 1980, I never dreamed that I would be typing what is to follow.

On Monday, North Bullitt athletic director Ryan Bringhurst confirmed what had been feared for the past few months, that this winter there will be no boys’ basketball game between North Bullitt and Bullitt East. At the same time, Bringhurst said that no date has been found for a girls’ game but that there is still a chance that contest could be scheduled in the next several weeks.

  • NB gets in win column with late stand

JEFFERSONTOWN – If North Bullitt head coach Brett Newton had any question about the heart and determination of his football squad, those doubts were erased on a hot and humid Friday night.

Coming off a pair of losses, North Bullitt would get an important 22-20 victory over the Jeffersontown Chargers.

But the victory wasn’t sealed until the final buzzer as a 26-yard field goal was just wide left.

  • BC hangs on late to beat Trojans on road

OKOLONA – Surviving a furious rally from Southern, the Bullitt Central Cougars moved to 2-0 this season with a 22-21 victory on Friday.

Bullitt Central had a 22-7 lead entering the fourth quarter, but gave up two late scores. The final points were scored by the Trojans at the 6:15 mark, but then the defense made a big stand late to seal the win, the seventh in a row over their northern neighbors.

  • Area teams will make short road trips on Friday

SHEPHERDSVILLE – After all three Bullitt County football teams played at home last Friday, it will be the exact opposite this week as the three programs will all make short trips into Jefferson County for Friday night contests.

  • NB’s Egnor signs for college track

HEBRON ESTATES – As a high school junior, North Bullitt’s Patrick Egnor had his future all planned out.

  • Lady Chargers get key win; BC and NB off to quick starts

SHEPHERDSVILLE – The Bullitt East Lady Chargers picked up a huge win during the first two weeks of the high school volleyball season. It was a win that head coach Ed Fisher hopes propels the team to post-season success.

  • BE finishes strong at Tiger Run

LOUISVILLE – The first major cross-country event of the season showed that Bullitt East will be a power in both boys’ and girls’ action even with the move to Class AAA this season.

  • Oh what a way to start the high school season

SHEPHERDSVILLE – While the high school golf seasons have been going for a few weeks now and the soccer and volleyball seasons started earlier this week, the big bang of starts to the fall sports season comes this weekend.
