  • Cougars improve to beat Allen County

          SHEPHERDSVILLE - Just before Christmas, the Bullitt Central Cougars took part in the Sarah Major Barger Tournament at North Bullitt, an event that was eventually won by Allen County-Scottsville.

         The Cougars finished fifth.

         A week later, Bullitt Central traveled south to compete in the South Central Bank-Halton Classic, an event conducted by Allen County-Scottsville. As it turned out, the Cougars were paired up with the host school in the first-round of the eight-team event.

  • After first month, net picture is no brighter

          SHEPHERDSVILLE - After the first month of the high school basketball season, we really have no clearer picture at the top of the boys' race in Kentucky than we did back in November.

         Blame it on Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) from Nashville.

         With Bullitt East opting out of the Louisville Invitational Tournament this season, everything pointed to the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic at Fairdale as being the place where a number one team in the state would emerge.

  • Lady Chargers finish third in own tournament

          MOUNT WASHINGTON - The Bullitt East Lady Chargers got in a lot of basketball before the holidays and they made it work as they posted a 3-1 record in their own event.

         The Bullitt East Holiday Classic was an eight-team event that included three games in pool play and then a single cross-over game to end the tournament.

         The second annual tournament was sponsored by Vision First and Schmid Funeral Home.

  • Chargers fall in consolation game of KOB tourney

          FAIRDALE - Consolation bracket games are never easy for any basketball team, but playing in the third-place game of the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic last Sunday was especially tough for Bullitt East...as well as Madison Central.

         In the end, the Chargers lost for a second straight night, falling 64-58.

  • North Bullitt gets to keep baseball field

          HEBRON ESTATES - The good news is that the North Bullitt Eagles will not lose their basefield due to the construction of a new college and career center planned for its campus.

         The bad news is that the baseball team's schedule for this spring has been set and normal maintenance work which would be done in the fall was not completed because of the planned re-location.

         That means it will be a busy time for head coach Brian Wise, his staff and baseball supporters.

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - The dream of winning the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic will have to wait another year as the Bullitt East Chargers suffered a heartbreaking 52-51 loss in Saturday’s semi-finals to defending champion Christ Presbyterian Academy from Nashville, Tennessee.

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - Snapping back from a poor outing in the Bullitt County Challenge, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers managed to do something that their two county rivals had failed to do earlier this season - beat Sixth Region rival Holy Cross.
